Trampoline
Trampolining is an acrobatic discipline consisting of performing jumps and tricks by bouncing on a stretched mat suspended by springs or elastic bands. Invented in the 20th century by George Nissen and Larry Griswold, it is based on the principle of energy return: the mat converts the impulse into vertical thrust, allowing for elevation, rotations, and aerial maneuvers.
This activity requires mastery of momentum, body positioning, and aerial control to link together tucks, pikes, somersaults, and twists. Standard equipment includes a steel frame, the trampoline mat, springs or elastic bands, and safety gear. Accessible from recreational to elite levels, trampolining demands gradual progression, muscle strengthening, and attention to safety during jumps and landings.
