Clown Power Festival 2026 – Nice 🎭🤡

From September 25th to 27th, 2026, the Clown Power Festival returns to 109 – Pôle de Cultures Contemporaines in Nice for three days entirely dedicated to the world of clowning, contemporary circus, burlesque, and the performing arts. Organized by Compagnie Gorgomar, this event, which has become a must-see on the French Riviera, brings together artists, professional companies, families, circus enthusiasts, and the simply curious each year around a rich, inventive, and accessible program.

Conceived as a true highlight dedicated to the art of clowning, Clown Power offers an immersive experience in a world where humor meets poetry, laughter mingles with emotion, and circus engages in dialogue with theater, dance, music, and film. Throughout the weekend, the public can attend numerous performances free of charge (reservations required for each show) featuring a blend of contemporary clowning, physical theater, acrobatic circus, juggling, aerial arts, music, brass bands, film screenings, burlesque performances, and family shows.

The 2026 program will showcase a wide variety of disciplines and companies, with shows for all audiences and creations designed for both children and adults. Visitors will be able to discover clown acts, acrobatics, juggling, aerial frame, Chinese pole, magic, physical theatre, and contemporary circus performances in various spaces at Le 109, a truly iconic venue for artistic creation in Nice.

The festival is not limited to shows. Throughout the weekend, numerous activities will enrich the visitor experience: a photographic exhibition retracing previous editions, giant wooden games, a specialized bookstore, film workshops around film, a poetry area with the poet's caravan, meetings with artists and professionals of the performing arts, as well as several moments of exchange devoted to contemporary clown creation.

Among the highlights of this edition is the Clown Corner, a friendly gathering allowing the public to interact directly with several guest artists about their careers, their craft, their vision of clowning today, and the evolution of this ever-changing art form. The festival also welcomes performing arts professionals through artistic residencies, meetings between programmers and companies, and spaces dedicated to showcasing contemporary creations.

Alongside the festival, a professional workshop, "Clown and Parody," led by Daphné Clouzeau, will be held from September 22nd to 25th, 2026 at 109 – Pôle de Cultures Contemporaines. Aimed at artists and individuals wishing to deepen their clowning practice, this workshop offers in-depth work on expressive clowning, parody, self-deprecation, and the sincerity of performance.

Over the course of four days of training, participants will explore the fundamentals of contemporary clowning through different areas of work: deepening basic clowning techniques, developing sensitive expression, listening to oneself without judgment, exploring emotions, the ability to play with one's own ridiculousness, working on self-deprecation, humor in parodying oneself and others, physical and emotional commitment, generosity in play, spontaneous reaction to action, building a free and open clown character, and specific work on the spoken voice in connection with intimacy and emotion.

The festival also offers a circus arts initiation workshop for parents and children, organized on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Led by the association Les Uto'Pistes, this workshop invites families to discover together the different circus disciplines in a spirit of sharing and cooperation.

The Uto'Pistes association develops an approach inspired by Popular Education, where circus arts become a genuine tool for personal and collective development. Through play, participants discover the many facets of circus arts: juggling, acrobatics, mime, theater, physical expression, balance, dance, and teamwork. The workshops are led by Michaël Martinet and Aude Morancé, who guide children and adults in a practice that fosters self-confidence, creativity, and relationships with others.

Located at 109 – Pôle de Cultures Contemporaines, 89 Route de Turin in Nice, the Clown Power Festival benefits from a setting entirely dedicated to contemporary arts. The various spaces on the site host performances, workshops, classes, and meetings in a friendly atmosphere where artists and the public can easily interact.

Most shows are free, with some performances requiring advance booking. The parent-child circus workshop costs €5 per person, while registration details and prices for the "Clown and Parody" professional workshop are available directly from Compagnie Gorgomar.

A true celebration of contemporary clowning and circus arts, Clown Power 2026 promises to be a major cultural event on the French Riviera this fall. With top-notch performances, artistic discoveries, training sessions, opportunities for connection, and family fun, the festival promises three days filled with laughter, emotion, creativity, and poetry.
