Waiting for the Big Night is a contemporary circus creation directed by Pierre-Jean Bréaud, presented at La Ferme du Buisson – Scène nationale de Marne-la-Vallée, in Noisiel. For 90 minutes, this show, suitable for all ages 8 and up, offers a unique encounter between circus, dance, and music, in an immersive format where the audience is seated all around the stage to experience the action as close as possible to the artists.
From the very first minutes, a clown-DJ takes over the stage. A true master of ceremonies, he launches an evening where musical styles and artistic disciplines blend with great freedom. Around him move six acrobats and two dancers, playing with bodies, rhythms, and balances to create a vibrant, generous, and profoundly human show.
Through a succession of spectacular acrobatic feats, lifts, human pyramids, balancing acts, and group choreography, the performers revisit the popular dances that have always accompanied festive occasions. Tango, rock, waltzes, rondeaux, and jazz become the raw material of a style where dance movements naturally extend into circus techniques. Gradually, the boundaries between disciplines dissolve, giving way to a shared language of energy, confidence, precision, and collaboration.
The artists use their acrobatic skills as a true tool for extraordinary feats. Bodies rise, support one another, fall, and then catch themselves with impressive fluidity. Each lift, each balance, and each flight tells a story where solidarity becomes essential. Technical prowess is never an end in itself: it serves above all else the emotion, the connection, and the joy of being together.
The proximity to the audience further intensifies the performance. Seated around the ring, the spectators become almost like guests at a grand public dance, swept away by the performers' infectious energy.
