Moulins Sunday #8 returns on Sunday, September 27, 2026, for another grand, festive, and entirely free day organized by Le Prato – Pôle National Cirque de Lille, in partnership with Le Cirque du Bout du Monde. Located in the public space of the Lille-Moulins district, this now-essential event invites residents, families, curious visitors, and circus enthusiasts to share a convivial day combining performances, participatory workshops, and artistic encounters.

Conceived as a true neighborhood festival open to all generations, Moulins Dimanche transforms the area around the Prato into a vast playground where contemporary circus takes over the streets. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., spectators are invited to wander freely between the various highlights of the program, attend the shows, participate in introductory workshops, and enjoy a warm atmosphere where artists and audience naturally mingle.

The day begins at 11:00 AM with "Dans le sens contraire au sens du vent" (Against the Wind), a creation by Collectif Porte 27 for audiences aged 6 and up. For 30 minutes, two artists perform on a tightrope in a piece inspired by a text by Sylvain Levey. Between balance and imbalance, emptiness and encounter, this suspended dialogue becomes a metaphor for freedom, self-affirmation, and the courage to follow one's own path. This show blends tightrope walking, theater, and poetry to offer a sensitive reflection on difference and resistance to convention.

From 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, it's time for hands-on experience with several free circus workshops offered by Le Cirque du Bout du Monde and Collectif Porte 27. Children, teenagers, adults, and families can discover different circus disciplines in a fun and supportive atmosphere. These introductory sessions allow everyone to experience the circus arts alongside passionate artists and instructors.

At 2:30 pm, the audience will discover Macadam Caravan, a creation by Compagnie Presque Siamoises, developed with students from the CRAC (Regional Center for Circus Arts) in Lomme. This hour-long promenade performance is the culmination of five weeks of research led by Shunyo Hanotaux, during which nine students explored the many possibilities offered by public space. Each student brings their own perspective on the city, their way of inhabiting and moving through it, inviting spectators to follow unexpected paths and rediscover the street as a true space for artistic creation.

The program concludes at 4 p.m. with Immobiles, by Compagnie Les Hommes de Mains, a 30-minute show suitable for ages 5 and up. On a treadmill installed in the center of a five-by-three-meter stage, two performers develop a physical dialogue where friendship, love, work, and cooperation intersect. The repeated movements, constant imbalances, and continuous flow question our perception of time, speed, and human relationships in a contemporary circus performance that is as original as it is poetic.

Throughout the day, several activities enrich the program. Visitors can discover the presentation of the "Porté de quartier" project, attend clown performances offered as part of the La Débhorde project by Compagnie Brounïak, meet the artists, and fully enjoy this event which emphasizes exchange and conviviality.

To make the day even more enjoyable, a bar will remain open throughout the event, and light refreshments will be available on site. The event takes place entirely outdoors, in front of Le Prato, allowing everyone to freely enjoy the shows in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.

With its eighth edition, Moulins Dimanche reaffirms its commitment to making contemporary circus accessible to all by bringing demanding, sensitive, and generous artistic offerings to public spaces. From tightrope walking and theater to collective creation, discovery workshops, and encounters, this day offers an immersion into the world of circus arts while strengthening ties between residents, artists, and the neighborhood's cultural organizations. Free, family-friendly, and open to all, Moulins Dimanche #8 is a must-see event of Lille's cultural season, offering a chance to discover contemporary circus in all its forms within a welcoming and participatory atmosphere.
