"De la Mort qui Tue" (Death That Kills) is a creation by the Belgian company Lady Cocktail that brilliantly blends contemporary circus, high-flying acrobatics, and dark humor in a show that is as spectacular as it is cathartic. Created for public spaces and then specially adapted for the ring of the Cirque-Théâtre d'Elbeuf for the opening of its 2026-2027 season, this production takes the audience on an adventure where danger becomes a fantastic playground.

Starting from this fundamental question—"Shouldn't we just relearn how to risk living?"—four acrobats decide to confront death with insolence, self-deprecation, and boundless energy. Since death is inevitable, they might as well defy it with laughter. Suspended above the void, they take on increasingly audacious challenges, flirting with the limits of possibility in a succession of acts as impressive as they are exhilarating.

On the program: swinging trapeze, aerial straps, flying rope, knife throwing, and other deliberately risky experiments. With arms outstretched, feet dangling in mid-air, or a knife blade grazing their skin, these artists constantly push their limits with remarkable technical mastery. Their virtuosity blends with a biting humor, transforming each risk into a moment of tension, laughter, and shared experience.

Beneath the majestic dome of the Cirque-Théâtre d'Elbeuf, this adaptation takes on a special dimension. The proximity to the artists intensifies the performances, while the set design showcases the full power of the aerial disciplines. Between thrills, bursts of laughter, songs, emotions, and adrenaline, De la Mort qui Tue invites everyone to celebrate the urgency of living and to fully savor the present moment.

Acclaimed by critics – “You leave with an urgent desire to live, to laugh, to climb, to dance.” (Relikto) – this show is a true declaration of love for life. Suitable for ages 4 and up, it will appeal to families and contemporary circus enthusiasts alike thanks to its blend of acrobatic feats, poetry, physical theatre, and dark humor.

Presented on September 5th and 6th, 2026, at the Cirque-Théâtre d'Elbeuf, De la Mort qui Tue opens the season with panache, offering an intense, funny, and profoundly human collective experience. Admission is free, allowing as many people as possible to discover the inventive and spectacular work of the Lady Cocktail company in one of the most beautiful permanent circus venues in France.
