The Promise of Emptiness
To mark the opening of its 2026-2027 season, L'Azimut invites the public to discover La Promesse du Vide (The Promise of Emptiness), a creation by Louise Faure and Compagnie Avis de Tempête, presented free of charge outdoors in Parc Heller in Antony. Blending aerial circus, live music, and visual theatre, this 45-minute show offers a poetic and spectacular experience where emotion arises as much from physical feats as from moments of silence and stillness.
At the heart of the performance stands an impressive monumental structure of wood and wrought iron, reaching a height of 11 meters. A veritable aerial playground, it becomes the starting point for a journey where five individuals prepare to leave behind a place, a story, or a part of themselves. Each carries their own baggage, laden with memories, doubts, and hopes. Chance encounters gradually bring them together and lead them to take a decisive step: the great leap into the unknown.
To tell this universal story, Compagnie Avis de Tempête blends contemporary circus, music, and poetry. The performers move between the swinging trapeze, the flying rope, and Chinese poles, seamlessly linking balances and acrobatic lifts, playing with height, emptiness, and gravity in a series of visually striking scenes. Each flight becomes a metaphor for trust, solidarity, change, and the ability to overcome one's fears.
The music is performed entirely live by two musicians on stage. The original compositions blend vocals, drums, keyboards, guitar, bass, and percussion in a decidedly rock style. Loïc Lantoine's lyrics extend the narrative and accompany the artists on this sensitive journey where words, bodies, and sounds become one.
Louise Faure's staging alternates between moments of great gentleness and dizzying sequences where the artists climb, swing, lift each other, fall, catch themselves, and create veritable aerial choreographies in the sky. The images created around this monumental structure offer a spectacle accessible to all, where technical prowess is constantly placed at the service of emotion.
Presented as the season opener at L'Azimut, this creation invites young and old to share a suspended moment where the circus becomes the language of encounters, departures, and transformations. The Promise of Emptiness celebrates human fragility as much as the strength of the collective, in a generous work where poetry meets physical feat and music accompanies every flight.
