What can poetry do when the world collapses? With *The Earth Is Gone Beneath Our Feet*, the Basinga company and the Kahraba Collective present a profoundly human creation where contemporary circus, theatre, and poetry unite to question our capacity to remain standing in the face of violence. Presented on September 23, 2026, as part of the Les Francophonies de Limoges festival and the 2026 Mediterranean Season, this 45-minute show, suitable for ages 8 and up, invites the audience to share a sensitive, committed, and resolutely empathetic experience.

This creation stems from a tragic reality: the destruction wrought upon southern Lebanon, villages wiped off the map, populations forced into exile, and territories vanishing. Faced with this barbarity, the artists respond neither with words nor anger, but with the very essence of their art: encounter, vulnerability, and beauty. They delicately remind us that poetry matters everywhere, and that it remains a vital thread connecting humanity.

Specialists in high-wire walking, the Basinga company joins forces with the Kahraba Collective, a Franco-Lebanese artistic collective renowned for its creations blending theater, circus, and cultural engagement around the Mediterranean. Together, they imagine a performance where walking, the wire, balance, and movement become metaphors for our times. The artists move forward together, constructing fragile equilibriums, summoning mythological figures, rituals of consolation, and inner landscapes where uprooted tree branches bear witness to a memory that cannot be erased.

Blending contemporary circus, theatre, visual poetry, and collective performance, La terre s'en va sous nos pieds (The Earth Gone Beneath Our Feet) doesn't just tell a story: it offers a journey. Every gesture, every silence, and every moment of balance evokes exile, solidarity, reconstruction, and the capacity to keep moving forward despite the wounds. More than a show, this creation invites the audience to share a moment of reflection, emotion, and humanity.

The cast includes Taleb Arafat, Tamara Badreddine, Tatiana Mosio Bongonga, Deborah Benveniste, David Couillaud, Éric Deniaud, Louisa Gesset-Hernandez, Gaël Honegger, Natasha Karam, Jan Naets, Samer Zaher, and Aurélien Zouki, produced by Camille Foucher, Marion Piry, and Mathilde Wahl. This diverse group of artists fosters a creation where cultures, languages, and disciplines converge to build a universal work.

Presented with free admission, the show is organised by Agora PNC – Pôle National Cirque Boulazac Aquitaine, in partnership with the Les Francophonies de Limoges festival, as part of the Mediterranean Season 2026. A free shuttle service is provided from Boulazac, upon reservation, to allow as many people as possible to attend this exceptional performance.

At once an artistic manifesto, a tribute to resilience and an invitation to dialogue, La terre s'en va sous nos pieds promises to be one of the highlights of the 2026 cultural season. A powerful creation where circus, theatre and poetry remind us that, even when everything seems to falter, there is always a thread on which to move forward together.
