"Wet Sighs Under the Heels" is a spectacular creation by the company Succursale 101, conceived by Angélique Friant and Stéphane Blanquet. Presented at the Cirque Jules Verne – Pôle National Cirque Amiens as part of the International Puppet Arts Festival, this 1 hour 15 minute show, recommended for ages 16 and up, immerses the audience in a world where contemporary puppetry, visual arts, performance art, and cabaret converge.
Following their first collaboration on Les Leçons d'Anatomies Chimériques (Lessons in Chimeric Anatomy), Angélique Friant and visual artist Stéphane Blanquet continue their exploration of a rich and vibrant imagination. Inspired by the Dadaist spirit, Soupirs mouillés sous les talons (Wet Sighs Under the Heels) presents a series of striking visual tableaux where words, puppets, masks, mirrors, and images interact in a succession of hypnotic acts.
Master of ceremonies Emmanuel Hubaut, iconic singer of Les Tétines Noires and leader of EHb, guides the audience through this strange cabaret where performers and life-size puppets interact. Poisonous sensuality rubs shoulders with fakirism in Lalla Morte, while Yaël Rasooly, Christophe Hanon, David Girondin Moab, and Jeanne Marquis bring to life a gallery of fascinating characters.
Thanks to remarkable visual artistry, monumental puppets, costumes, lighting, video, and sound design, the performance gradually transforms into a lush phantasmagoria populated by hybrid beings—part human, part insect, part plant. The whole creates a disturbing dream, where visual poetry, dark humor, eroticism, and strangeness intertwine, ultimately transforming the stage into a veritable art installation that the audience is invited to explore after the performance.
