The Fratellini Academy officially opens its 2026-2027 cultural season with a grand festive day dedicated to contemporary circus on Saturday, September 26, 2026. The festivities begin at 4:30 pm in the Fratellini Academy Hall with a free, open season presentation. For one hour, the Academy team will unveil the shows, artists, events, and highlights that will make up the 2026-2027 program. This presentation will be interspersed with performances by the students, offering the public a glimpse into the work done at the higher school of circus arts. The teams will then take the time to discuss the season's projects with the audience before a social gathering to meet the artists, teachers, and Academy members in a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
The afternoon continues naturally with La Bande à Tyrex, the show chosen to inaugurate this new season. Those who attended the presentation are invited to join us in the Big Top to discover this production starting at 6:30 pm.
Running for 1 hour and 20 minutes and suitable for ages 6 and up, La Bande à Tyrex is a contemporary circus show that reinvents acrobatic cycling as a vast, collective, musical, and jubilant ballet. Nine artists—acrobats and musicians—transform their bicycles into veritable circus apparatus. The bikes roll, accelerate, skid, turn, leap, pile up, stack, and serve as the support for an infinite number of lifts, balances, imbalances, human pyramids, and acrobatic feats where each movement depends on the others. In this joyful, perfectly orchestrated chaos, technical virtuosity blends with infectious energy, humor, and great tenderness.
The show explores all the possibilities offered by acrobatic cycling. The artists play with speed, trajectories, encounters, and controlled collisions. They invent a physical language where the bicycles become the acrobats' partners as much as their means of transport. The company La Bande à Tyrex was born following an initial professional meeting dedicated to acrobatic cycling, organized in 2014 at La Cascade – Pôle National Cirque in Bourg-Saint-Andéol. These training and sharing sessions gradually gave rise to a true collective adventure. The artists wanted to pursue their research far beyond technique in order to explore all the artistic dimensions offered by this unique apparatus. Through residencies and creations, the company has developed an original style based on collective intelligence, constant movement, music, and the joy of being together on stage.
Following Saturday's performance, the evening continues with a concert at 7:50 pm, allowing spectators to extend this season opening in a festive and convivial atmosphere. For those unable to attend this first evening, a second performance of La Bande à Tyrex is scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 4:00 pm, again under the Big Top of the Fratellini Academy.
