To mark the opening of its 2026-2027 cultural season and as part of the European Heritage Days, the City of Gif-sur-Yvette invites the public to discover Fratello, a contemporary circus performance by Compagnie Bêstîa, on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at 4 p.m., in the park of the Château de Belleville.
Free and presented outdoors, Fratello brings together Wilmer Marquez and Cristian Forero, two lifelong brothers bound since their youth by a shared passion: the circus. On stage, their relationship becomes the very essence of the show. They throw themselves at each other, carry each other, catch each other, search for each other, get annoyed, and then find each other again, in a physical dialogue that alternates between tenderness, challenge, complicity, and tension.
At the heart of this creation lies a unique question: how can two acrobatic porters build a language together without using a flyer? Their answer lies in their bodies, trust, and a multitude of techniques learned and developed throughout their journey.
Acrobatic lifts and hand-to-hand acrobatics are combined with juggling of clubs and balls, unicycling, stilts, diabolo, and ground acrobatics. Objects themselves become partners in the performance, allowing the two artists to explore their relationship, their imbalances, and their way of communicating, sometimes without words.
Fratello is first and foremost a story of brotherhood, a relationship both strong and fragile in which one must learn to trust the other, accept falling together, and find a way to get back up. Circus virtuosity is thus put at the service of a sensitive, human, and poetic show, without forgetting humor and the joy of performance.
Created in spring 2025 as part of the SPRING Festival, Fratello is presented by Compagnie Bêstîa, a circus company based in Normandy that develops work around contemporary circus, particularly hand-to-hand and acrobatic lifts. Its work also blends juggling, ground acrobatics, theatre, dance, and various forms of artistic expression.
The production is directed by Wilmer Marquez, with Lou Valentini as assistant director and writer, and Jorge Avellaneda composing the music. Wilmer Marquez and Cristian Forero perform the roles.
The show lasts approximately 55 minutes and is suitable for the whole family from age 4 and up.
🌳 The performance will take place outdoors in the park of the Château de Belleville in Gif-sur-Yvette. The audience is welcome to bring a folding chair or cushion for comfort.
🎟️ Entry is free. Online ticketing will be available from Tuesday, September 1st, 2026 at 2pm.
A great opportunity to discover a generous contemporary circus where juggling, diabolo, unicycle, stilts and acrobatic lifts each tell, in their own way, about trust and brotherhood.
