From October 26 to 30, 2026, the Toulouse Municipal Circus Arts Center – Le Lido – is offering a new week of circus arts workshops for children aged 6 and a half to 8 and a half. For five full days under the famous Lido big top, around fifteen young participants will discover juggling, acrobatics, aerial disciplines, and object balancing through fun, group activities led by circus arts professionals.

🎪 The workshop takes place in an iconic location for circus arts education in Toulouse. Created under the impetus of Henri Guichard, Le Lido is Toulouse's first circus school. Its history began in a former neighborhood cinema before the gradual development of a school renowned for the originality of its educational approach. In 2008, activities moved to the Argoulets Green Zone, under the large white big top that now hosts workshops and classes.

Since 2019, a distinction has been made between two structures: the Centre Municipal des Arts du Cirque – Le Lido, dedicated to amateur practice, and Ésacto'Lido, which focuses on higher education and professional training. The two structures remain closely linked, however, and notably share their workspaces.

The big top is a fully equipped facility dedicated to circus arts, with various training areas arranged around a 300-seat performance hall. It is in this environment, specially designed for circus practice, that children discover their first disciplines.

🤹 During this introductory week, the Lido deliberately favors a multidisciplinary approach. Children are not immediately directed towards a single specialty: they experiment with several techniques in order to discover the diversity of the circus.

Juggling allows them to explore object manipulation and coordination. Acrobatics develops their relationship with their body and movement, while balancing on objects offers new sensations and requires concentration and control of their balance. Aerial disciplines complement this exploration.

The Lido boasts a wide variety of apparatus and disciplines in its regular classes: its general program includes juggling with balls, rings, clubs, and diabolo; tightrope, ball, unicycle, roller board, and Chinese pole for balances; as well as rope, fixed trapeze, hoop, and silks for aerial disciplines. The October workshop outlines the main disciplines but not the specific apparatus that will be used during the week; therefore, I cannot guarantee that all apparatus will be available during the workshop.

🎨 The artistic dimension is just as important as technical learning. The Lido's educational project stems from popular education and places a central place on the child's personal, physical, artistic, and cultural development. The school aims in particular to develop self-confidence, creativity, individual expression, the joy of practice, and teamwork.

This is why the week is organized around fun, group activities rather than purely technical instruction. The children experiment, play, learn together, and are gradually encouraged to use the techniques they discover as tools for expression.

🎭 The final day marks the culmination of the week. The young "budding artists" take to the stage to present the results of their work to their parents and friends. This first experience of public performance gives an artistic and collective dimension to the learning acquired during the workshop.

The program runs from Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm, providing five full days of discovery. Lunch and snacks are included, simplifying arrangements for families.

💶 As the Lido is a municipal facility of the City of Toulouse, it applies a sliding scale of fees based on household income. For this workshop, the advertised price ranges from €46 to €150 for the entire week, including meals and snacks.

Places are limited. For the session from October 26 to 30, 2026, registration was initially scheduled to open on August 26; due to a technical issue, the application form will open on August 27, 2026 at 8:00 AM, with applications accepted until September 9 at 11:45 PM. The Lido specifies that a positive or negative response will be communicated approximately one month before the start of the workshop.

Located in the Argoulets Green Zone, the Lido is easily accessible by public transport: metro line A, Argoulets station, or bus 33, 43 and 76, Argoulets stop.

With its mix of juggling, acrobatics, object balancing and aerial arts, its recognized educational approach and the possibility of practicing directly under the Lido big top, this course provides a great first immersion in circus arts for children aged 6 and a half to 8 and a half during the All Saints' holidays in Toulouse.
