Dog Bread – a new creation from the Circus Without Names

From October 2nd to 4th, 2026, Cirque sans noms (Circus Without Names) will set up its big top in the hamlet of Les Moulins in Nexon, Haute-Vienne, for three performances of Pain d'chien (Dog's Bread), its new contemporary circus creation. This promises to be a particularly warm and intimate experience, as the company will be performing "at home," in its own unique setting, with two evenings extended by a concert from Charles Précox. A traveling circus, strange characters, puppets, objects, magic, music, and poetry combine to create a wordless show where reality and imagination constantly intertwine.

🎪 Under its big top, the Cirque sans noms has been developing a unique style for many years, far removed from traditional spectacular displays. The company prefers small gestures, ordinary objects, quirky characters, makeshift mechanisms, and that strange poetry that emerges when something seems about to go wrong.

With Pain d'chien, created in 2026, this identity draws particularly on the imagery of the circus of yesteryear and old fairground attractions. The show evokes the memory of freak showmen, marginalized figures, and those strange beings who once populated the rings and booths.

In this small play space filled with objects and traces of past lives, mysterious and deliberately offbeat characters appear: a bitter Loyal, a "Loser", a "Beast", but also mannequins and puppets that sometimes seem about to come to life.

There are tangled garlands, smoke, a cracking whip, knives, old newspapers, magic, a violin, and strange sound objects. Everything contributes to creating a handcrafted world where the special effects remain intentionally visible and where the spectator's imagination completes the picture. The aesthetic evokes the old circus as much as silent films and freak shows.

🎭 Pain d'chien is therefore not structured as a classic succession of acts. Cirque sans noms seeks instead to create ephemeral, fragile, and sometimes absurd moments of life. Moving bodies and music take the place of words, since the show is performed without dialogue.

This approach gives the audience a prominent role. Seated close to the performers in a small tent, the company plays with this proximity. The show's press kit indicates a capacity of between 50 and 150 spectators, deliberately reinforcing this intimate relationship between the stage and the seating.

Officially created in January 2026 at the Agora – National Circus Center in Boulazac, Pain d'chien then embarked on a tour that included stops in Bègles and Le Mans. After these three performances in Nexon, the Cirque sans noms will continue its journey to CIRCA in Auch, another partner in the creation.

🌙 In Nexon, the experience goes beyond just the show. On Fridays and Saturdays, the site and refreshment stand open from 7 pm, and the public can bring their own picnic. Pain d'chien starts at 8:30 pm, then the evening's atmosphere shifts at 10 pm with Charles Précox and his "apocalyptic party," an energetic musical performance blending electronic music, bass, and vocals.

Sunday offers a different format, more focused on the show, with a performance of Pain d'chien at 5:30 pm.

With a participation fee set at only €10, or €15 for supporters, these three days also constitute a great opportunity to discover the Cirque sans noms in its environment in Haute-Vienne, up close to its big top and its world.

Due to limited capacity, reservations are required at 07 66 25 29 01. Pain d'chien is advertised as suitable for all audiences and recommended for ages 6 and up.
