Circus Arts Convention: Antilles/Guyana

The first circus arts convention in the Antilles/Guyana presented by Lézard Ti Show

The Lézard Ti Show association has decided to organize the first circus arts convention of the Antilles / Guyana , which will take place on Friday 26, Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May 2023 in Grand-Rivière , Martinique . The convention will be held in an idyllic setting, among the Riverains, the inhabitants of Grand-Rivière in Martinique (972), at the foot of Mount Pelée , surrounded by greenery and wild beaches .

Presentation of the circus convention

The convention program is to be built together and will offer workshops and masterclasses throughout the day, to learn the basics and the most secret mysteries of circus practices. Participants will also be able to propose their show, a routine or an artistic idea to test it in front of a caring and demanding audience and benefit from the advice of professionals .

The Lizard Ti Show association

The Lézard Ti Show association was created in 2012 in Martinique with the aim of expanding the festival of the same name launched in 2009. Its mission is to organize a free annual festival , featuring a range of arts that can be practiced in public spaces. For more than 10 years, the festival has attracted more than 5,000 visitors who come to discover the avant-garde of Caribbean live performance.

History of the Caribbean Circus

Aimé Césaire's cultural policy in Martinique, which began in the 1980s, aimed to promote local artists and bring culture to the people. Since then, a truly professional sector has emerged in the Caribbean and is now widespread in mainland France, as well as in Canada and across the African continent. Although Caribbean circus organizations are geographically isolated from each other and from national institutions, they are deeply rooted in the economic and social issues of their territory.
