Acro Roquettes is an amateur circus school located in Roquettes , south of Toulouse, in Haute-Garonne. Created in 2014, it constitutes the circus arts section of the Roquettes Rural Community Centre .

The school was founded by Kimberly and Guillaume Montels , two professional artists from the world of circus. Their project was born from the desire to pass on the circus arts to an amateur audience and to develop a genuine circus activity in Roquettes.

Since its creation, Acro Roquettes has welcomed children, teenagers, and adults every week. The school offers a multidisciplinary approach that allows participants to discover and explore the main branches of circus arts.

The training focuses primarily on acrobatics , juggling , aerial disciplines , and balancing on equipment . Participants can experiment with several techniques before gradually developing the disciplines that interest them most.

Acrobatics are given a central place

The school places particular emphasis on acrobatics . The training offered can be individual or group-based and includes practice of acrobatic lifts . Acro Roquettes also provides numerous educational resources allowing participants to continue working on specific movements and exercises.

Classes organized by age group

Classes are organized by age group to adapt learning to the physical abilities and level of independence of the participants. The program ranges from children to teenagers and adults, allowing for continued amateur circus practice beyond childhood.

An artistic dimension at the heart of pedagogy

Acro Roquettes' teaching method also has a significant artistic dimension . The school's project is not solely about learning techniques: participants are gradually guided to choose their favorite disciplines, create acts, and then present them to an audience.

Each season concludes with an end-of-year show bringing together the students. This event represents the culmination of the work done during classes and allows participants to experience all aspects of a circus creation: technical learning, choice of a discipline, creation, rehearsal and performance.

Internships during school holidays

The workshops organized during school holidays extend this approach. Open to children aged 6 and up , they are designed as genuine creative workshops . Over several days, children and teenagers practice juggling, acrobatics, balancing, and aerial disciplines, then prepare a performance for the public at the end of the workshop.

Acro Roquettes also develops advanced training courses , particularly around acrobatics, allowing practitioners to progress more specifically in certain techniques.

A close relationship with the professional circus world

The school has a close relationship with the professional circus world . Its founders and teachers are themselves professional artists and were trained at the National Circus School of Montreal . Their artistic careers have led them to work with various circus companies and productions in France and abroad.

Guillaume Montels has a multidisciplinary background in acrobatics, juggling, theatre, and dance. His career includes collaborations with various renowned contemporary circus companies. He also runs the professional company Upside Down with Kimberly.

This close connection with professional creation nourishes the school's educational project while maintaining a clearly amateur vocation.

Outreach interventions

Acro Roquettes can also provide services outside of its regular classes. The team offers workshops , activities , and projects related to circus arts and can work in schools and leisure centers throughout the Toulouse metropolitan area.

After more than ten years in existence , Acro Roquettes has become a well-established amateur circus school in the south of the Toulouse metropolitan area. Its activities combine weekly classes , workshops , advanced training , multidisciplinary practice , and the creation of shows , all under the guidance of professional artists.
