Artistic Interlude – Mont-Saint-Guibert

Parenthèse Artistik is a non-profit association located in Mont-Saint-Guibert , in Walloon Brabant . Created in June 2020 by Mélissa Peeters and Sabrina Ballez , two passionate about art and aerial disciplines, it develops a project combining technical learning, artistic practice and transmission.

The association has notably specialized in teaching aerial silks, an emblematic discipline of contemporary circus .

Its activities welcome both children and adults and allow a progressive discovery of aerial techniques.

Learning to work with fabric requires simultaneously developing strength , flexibility , coordination , and body control .

Participants gradually discover the different possibilities offered by this apparatus, combining technical learning and artistic dimension .

The association organizes regular workshops as well as training courses allowing more time to be devoted to practice.

The project has developed gradually since its creation. In its early days, Parenthèse Artistik had only three students and a single aerial silk .

A few years later, in 2023 , the association already had around 70 members , demonstrating the growing interest in aerial disciplines in the region.

The activities were notably organised in the gymnasium of the Institut Notre-Dame des Hayeffes , in Mont-Saint-Guibert.

Parenthèse Artistik also possesses a broader artistic identity than just teaching aerial silks.

Its statutes notably provide for the organization of courses and workshops around dance , acrobatics , theatre , circus and street arts .

The association also aims to support the creation of artistic and cultural projects, the organization of events and the promotion of artists and shows.

It maintains links with the network of amateur circus schools in French-speaking Belgium.

In April 2026 , Parenthèse Artistik was among the schools participating in the Carte Blanche of Fédécirque as part of the Hopla! festival in Brussels.

This event allows young practitioners from different member schools to present their work in front of an audience and to meet other students passionate about circus arts.

Parenthèse Artistik is therefore a specialized structure that is particularly interesting for people wishing to discover or deepen their knowledge of aerial disciplines in Walloon Brabant.

His activity combines teaching , internships and participation in collective artistic projects , in an environment directly linked to Belgian amateur circus.
