Breizh Malo Circus is a circus school based in Roz-sur-Couesnon, in Ille-et-Vilaine, near the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. A member of the French Federation of Circus Schools and FREC Bretagne, it develops a project primarily focused on itinerant circus arts education, immersion workshops, school and medico-social interventions, shows and entertainment.
The structure is managed by Jessie Gayet and advertises a BPJEPS-qualified circus activities instructor.
Unlike a school that mainly operates around a schedule of weekly classes, Breizh Malo Circus distinguishes itself by its ability to move its equipment and big tops directly into the establishments hosting the participants.
The school operates in Brittany but also more broadly throughout the Greater West region. It offers schools, leisure centers and specialized structures the opportunity to develop real projects around circus arts, either in the existing infrastructure of the establishment, or under a big top set up especially for the occasion.
Breizh Malo Circus is one of the organizations that has been developing the "circus in schools" concept for many years. The project does not simply consist of offering a few introductory workshops: participants experience a true immersion in the circus world for several days, discover different disciplines, gradually choose a specialty and prepare a performance.
A typical format takes place over a week. After the big top is set up, participants familiarize themselves with the venue, the safety rules, and the various practices. They then try out several workshops before choosing the discipline in which they wish to develop their act.
The following days are dedicated to learning, rehearsals, and preparing for the performance. Participants also choose their costumes, stage names, and work on the presentation of their act. The project typically culminates on Friday in a performance before an audience.
This presentation gives an artistic and collective purpose to the week. Each participant does not practice a discipline solely for themselves: their learning is part of the preparation for a real show to which the entire group contributes.
The technical offering is particularly diverse. Breizh Malo Circus offers:
This variety allows participants with very different abilities and sensitivities to find a discipline that suits them.
Some may be attracted by the skill of juggling, others by balances, acrobatics, aerial work, clowning, or magic.
The educational project goes far beyond learning circus tricks. Breizh Malo Circus presents the circus as an activity that develops self-confidence , communication and expression skills, as well as motor intelligence .
Group living also plays an essential role. The courses aim to develop behavior adapted to the group, respect for rules, acceptance of differences, solidarity, responsibility and autonomy.
Effort, discipline, rigor, and willpower are also emphasized. The weekend performance provides a concrete objective for this learning and showcases the work accomplished by each participant to families or the public.
Schools have historically been a key audience for Breizh Malo Circus. The school offers workshops for preschool and primary schools and can adapt its program to the specific educational project of each school.
The association also works in leisure centers. There too, the format can range from introductory sessions to a full week under a big top, including the preparation and presentation of a show.
Another particularly important aspect concerns specialized institutions and audiences requiring adapted teaching methods. Breizh Malo Circus explicitly offers projects for sheltered workshops (ESATs), homes for adults or young people with disabilities, associations, hospitals, and facilities for the elderly.
In these projects, the team maintains the diversity of circus arts but seeks to guide each participant towards the disciplines that best match their abilities. The variety of workshops allows the practice to be adapted to the possibilities, desires, and pace of the individuals involved.
This activity allows Breizh Malo Circus to be classified among the structures developing a genuine adapted and medico-social circus intervention, even if the site mainly uses the expression "specialized center internships".
The itinerant nature of the operation is central to its structure. Breizh Malo Circus notably has big tops that can be set up directly on the venues. The dimensions offered for school projects include 16 x 20 meter big tops as well as an 18 x 22 meter model.
These facilities allow a school, leisure center, or other structure to be temporarily transformed into a veritable circus space. During the winter, the big tops can be heated when conditions and the school administration permit.
The organization also develops a professional activity in performance, distribution and production. Its declared activities now include teaching and promoting circus arts, as well as organizing shows, workshops and events, and renting out tents and equipment.
Breizh Malo Circus has also recently undergone a legal evolution: a new company bearing this name was established in 2026 in Roz-sur-Couesnon, under the presidency of Jessie Gayet. Its purpose explicitly includes teaching circus arts to children, teenagers and adults, organizing shows, workshops and events, providing training and introductory courses, as well as renting out big tops and equipment.
This new structure continues a much older activity: the Breizh Malo Circus website indicates that it has been offering workshops in schools for over twenty years. Therefore, the legal creation of 2026 should not be interpreted as the birth of the educational activity.
In 2026, Breizh Malo Circus remained listed by the FFEC among the members of FREC Bretagne. The FFEC indicated Jessie Gayet as the contact and confirmed the address in Roz-sur-Couesnon.
The school thus represents a rather unique offering within the landscape of Breton circus schools. Its identity is based less on a place where students come each week to take a class than on the circus's ability to directly engage with audiences.
Nursery and primary schools, leisure centers, ESATs, establishments welcoming young people or adults with disabilities, hospitals, associations and structures for the elderly can thus build a project with Breizh Malo Circus.
Thanks to its big tops, equipment and support team, the structure can create a real circus universe for a few days and guide participants from the first discovery to the performance.
These disciplines then become tools for developing motor skills, confidence, autonomy, expression, cooperation and the pleasure of creating together.
Breizh Malo Circus is therefore simultaneously a circus school, a travelling arts education structure, a provider for specific audiences and an operator capable of producing complete projects under the big top combining learning, creation and performance.
