Starting in September 2026 , the City of Châlons-en-Champagne is developing a new municipal program dedicated to amateur circus arts. Classes are held at La Marnaise , within the CNAC training studios, thus offering participants an environment directly dedicated to circus disciplines.

This new municipal school is aimed at children, teenagers and adults and offers both multidisciplinary practice and courses allowing for in-depth study of certain circus disciplines.

Young people aged 10 to 17 can discover and practice juggling, balancing, and tightrope walking. Other courses are specifically dedicated to aerial disciplines , including trapeze, aerial hoop, and silks.

Acrobatics also plays a significant role in the program, with a workshop combining acrobatics, parkour, and acrobatic lifts. This diversity allows young people to discover various physical and artistic approaches and then gradually focus their practice on the disciplines that interest them most.

Multidisciplinary courses allow participants to explore several branches of circus arts within a single session. A specific time slot is offered for young people aged 10 to 17.

Adults have their own multidisciplinary courses, open to those aged 18 and over. Two weekly sessions are offered, allowing beginners as well as those wishing to continue an activity to discover different circus techniques.

A parent-child program complements the schedule. Accessible to children aged 6 and up, it allows them to participate together in a two-hour multidisciplinary workshop. This offering gives the circus a family-friendly and intergenerational dimension.

In order to maintain good supervision conditions, municipal courses are limited to twelve participants .

The City complements this new offering with a partnership with the gymnastics association L'Espoir and its circus section " Pourquoi pas nous! ". This collaboration allows for continued practice for younger children.

At the Nicolas Appert gymnasium , children aged 4 to 5 can participate in circus-based motor skills sessions, while 6-7 year olds have an acro-circus class. From age 8 , the association also offers various classes, including introductory groups, acrobatics, and unicycling.

Together, they form a particularly wide range of amateur circus offerings in Châlons-en-Champagne, from circus skills for the youngest children to courses for adults.

For the 2026-2027 season, municipal courses will run from September 14, 2026 to June 26, 2027 , excluding school holidays and public holidays. Two introductory sessions allow participants to try the activity before finalizing their registration.

This new offer also benefits from a municipal pricing system adapted to the resources of families in Châlons thanks to the Family Card .

With its multidisciplinary courses, specializations in juggling, balancing, tightrope walking, aerial disciplines, and acrobatics, as well as its programs for adults and families, the Châlons-en-Champagne Leisure Circus offers a particularly comprehensive range of amateur activities. Its location in La Marnaise , near the National Circus Arts Center, also gives it a unique position within a city historically very closely linked to the circus arts.
