CirKusKus is a new circus school founded in 2013 in Bratislava , Slovakia. Presented as the country's first new circus school, it develops a project combining the teaching of circus disciplines, artistic creation and cultural activities.

The school welcomes children from the age of three , teenagers, adults, and seniors. Its program includes regular classes, internships , occasional workshops , and training sessions open to all participants.

An introduction to the circus from a very young age

Children aged 3 to 5 can participate in circus activities accompanied by their parents.

From the age of six , students discover several disciplines within the Multicircus courses, intended for children up to fifteen years old .

Specific courses are also offered to teenagers aged 13 to 18 .

The teaching approach emphasizes the exploration of movement, coordination, balance, and creativity. Participants progress at their own pace in an environment that encourages cooperation and the enjoyment of practice.

Juggling and object manipulation

Juggling is one of the disciplines taught by CirKusKus.

Students work on their coordination, concentration and dexterity through various manipulation exercises.

The school also offers flow arts practices, which combine body movement with the manipulation of accessories.

These activities allow us to explore the relationship between rhythm, movement, and personal expression.

Aerial acrobatics

Aerial acrobatics plays an important role in the program.

Participants gradually develop their strength, mobility and body control through exercises adapted to their level.

The main center has several attachment points for aerial apparatus, installed at approximately seven and eight meters high, as well as landing mats and training equipment.

These facilities allow aerial disciplines to be practiced in a space dedicated to circus activities.

Acrobatics in pairs and groups

CirKusKus offers partner acrobatics classes.

These disciplines allow for the development of collective coordination, shared balance, and communication between participants.

The school also hosts acrobatics events open to the community, including the Acrojam Bratislava sessions.

Balance and fire arts

The program includes courses dedicated to balance techniques and fire arts.

Balance develops stability, posture, and body control.

Fire arts are also an artistic specialty of several CirKusKus members. The association offers shows combining object manipulation, movement, and visual effects.

A school for all ages

One of the distinctive features of CirKusKus is the diversity of the audiences it welcomes.

The activities are aimed at young children, teenagers, adults and seniors.

The school also offers an inclusive approach to the circus, notably through activities identified under the name Diversability Circus .

This diversity allows us to consider circus arts as a practice accessible to different ages and abilities.

A training center in Bratislava

After using several gyms and cultural centers, CirKusKus developed its own practice space in the Tržnica building, in Trnavské mýto .

Called CirKusKus Centrála , this place hosts classes, workshops and group training sessions.

It has equipment for ground and aerial acrobatics, a storage area for equipment and changing rooms.

Open sessions also allow practitioners to meet outside of regular classes.

Internships and workshops

CirKusKus organizes circus workshops during school holidays, notably under the name Cirkúsok .

The association also participates in private events, school activities and group workshops.

These proposals allow circus disciplines to be discovered by audiences who do not necessarily attend weekly classes.

Creation and live performance

Alongside its school, CirKusKus develops an artistic company activity.

Its repertoire includes new circus shows, acrobatic performances, light shows and fire shows.

The association also offers shows for children, combining humor, juggling, theatre and audience participation.

This artistic activity helps to maintain a link between educational practice and live performance.

An active circus community

CirKusKus contributes to the development of circus arts in Slovakia through its educational and cultural activities.

The association is involved in organizing the Svetový deň cirkusu festival, dedicated to World Circus Day.

It also maintains links with other European schools and promotes exchanges between young practitioners.

A complete school of contemporary circus

CirKusKus offers a multidisciplinary approach to circus arts, combining discovery, improvement, creation and sharing of practices.

Its regular teaching, specialized equipment and team of artists and educators make it an important structure for the development of the new circus in Bratislava.

Since 2013, CirKusKus has been helping to make circus arts accessible to a diverse audience while promoting artistic creation and the transmission of circus skills in Slovakia.
