Circo Richmoon is a circus school located in Palma de Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands.

The project has over twenty-five years of experience in teaching and transmitting circus arts.

Originally, the activity began as an extracurricular activity within a school in Palma before gradually developing into a permanent circus school.

Circo Richmond now welcomes children , teenagers and adults in its own facilities.

The school develops a multidisciplinary approach allowing students to discover several major families of circus techniques.

The children's circus: for ages 3 to 11

Children can start from the age of three .

For children aged 3 to 11, children's circus classes offer an introduction to the circus based on play, movement and imagination.

  • Gradually develop coordination , psychomotor skills , body expression and creativity .
  • Discover acrobatics and various aerial disciplines .
  • Supplement this initial training with juggling and balancing .

The goal is to allow everyone to experiment with several disciplines before developing their own preferences.

The program for teenagers: ages 12 to 17

Adolescents aged 12 to 17 have a specific program.

The work gradually becomes more technical and combines strength , flexibility , acrobatics and aerial disciplines .

  • Balance and juggling remain present in this multidisciplinary training.
  • Stage performance also allows for the development of the artistic dimension of the practice.
  • Technical progress is accompanied by work on creativity and confidence .

Adult classes: from age 18

Adults over 18 can also practice circus arts, whether they are beginners or already experienced .

Adult classes allow participants to practice acrobatics , among other things.

  • The trapeze is one of the main apparatuses available.
  • The fabrics and the hoop allow for the exploration of different forms of aerial acrobatics.
  • Balancing and juggling complement this practice.
  • Vertical exercises help develop strength, alignment, and body control.
  • A work of flexibility and mobility also accompanies the different disciplines.
  • Unicycling is one of the techniques practiced within the school.

A pedagogy based on diversity

This diversity is an important element of Circo Richmond's pedagogy.

Students are encouraged to experiment with several techniques in order to discover those that best suit their abilities and desires.

The circus as an educational and personal tool

Learning is not limited to the acquisition of physical skills.

The school views the circus as an educational , artistic and personal development tool.

  • Coordination , concentration and body control are developed throughout the learning process.
  • Students also develop self-confidence , autonomy and perseverance .
  • New exercises and unusual situations allow one to gradually learn to manage one's apprehensions and overcome new challenges.

Play occupies a particularly important place with children.

It allows you to discover the equipment and techniques in a progressive way while reducing the fear associated with certain exercises.

Working together promotes cooperation and mutual support .

Respect , tolerance and diversity are among the values promoted by the school.

Each student is encouraged to progress at their own pace and according to their own abilities.

Creativity is another essential element of learning.

Students are encouraged to experiment and find different ways to use the techniques they learn.

The stage, an extension of learning

The stage is an extension of this work.

Circo Richmond organizes several presentations and shows throughout the year.

  • An initial presentation allows students to showcase their progress around Christmas .
  • A grand end-of-year show then brings together the different groups in June .

These representations are an integral part of the pedagogy.

They allow students to discover how a show works, to work together and to learn how to present their work in front of an audience.

Events, school interventions and campuses

The school also participates in shows and events organized in Palma and in different municipalities of Mallorca.

She develops interventions in schools.

Schools can host circus activities or come directly to discover the circus at Richmond's premises.

During school holidays, campuses supplement regular classes.

These workshops combine circus skills, acrobatics, juggling, balance, body expression, creativity and group games.

The activities are adapted to different ages and levels.

A national network and an experienced teaching team

Circo Richmoon belongs to the Federación Española de Escuelas de Circo Socioeducativo .

The school participates in particular in the national youth circus meetings organized by this network.

These meetings allow young practitioners to interact with students and teachers from other Spanish schools.

The teaching team is composed of artists and trainers with complementary backgrounds.

Several teachers themselves grew up and were trained within Circo Richmond before joining its teaching staff.

This continuity allows new generations of students to be guided by practitioners who are directly familiar with the school's educational approach.

Circo Richmoon thus combines circus discovery , technical progression , personal development , creativity and stage experience .

With more than twenty-five years of activity and courses ranging from early childhood to adulthood, the school is today a lasting place for the transmission of circus arts in Palma de Mallorca.
