The MCL Ma Bohème in Charleville-Mézières offers a weekly circus arts workshop for children, to be practiced in parent-child pairs from age 4 or individually from age 8. Juggling, balancing on objects, acrobatics, clowning, and mime allow children to discover the circus in a fun way while developing motor skills, coordination, creativity, independence, and self-confidence.
The Ma Bohème House of Culture and Leisure , located in Charleville-Mézières in the Ardennes, offers among its many activities a weekly workshop dedicated to circus arts .
The activity welcomes children from 4 years old . For younger children, the activity is offered as a parent-child pair: the adult accompanies the child in their discoveries and participates with them in the various experiments. From 8 years old , children can participate in the workshop on their own.
The teaching is designed as a space for discovery and experimentation in which each child can progress at their own pace. Several major branches of circus arts are explored during the sessions.
Juggling allows you to manipulate scarves and balls and to gradually work on dexterity and coordination .
The children also discover balancing on objects. Among the equipment explicitly used by the workshop are stilts and the rolla-bolla, allowing them to experiment with different situations of balance and movement.
Acrobatics is approached in particular through acrosport, which allows one to work on body control but also on the relationship with other participants .
The artistic and expressive dimension of the circus is also present. Activities involving acting , clowning , and mime complement technical learning and allow children to explore physical expression, character, and imagination.
Through these various activities, the workshop aims to develop children's motor skills , coordination , and creativity . Circus arts also become a tool for building self-confidence , independence , and communication skills .
Group practice allows children to learn how to interact with others and participate in teamwork. The support offered to younger children reinforces this aspect by allowing parents and children to share an artistic and physical activity together.
The sessions are organized in small groups , with a limited number of participants, in order to maintain conditions suitable for discovery and learning.
The workshop is led by Ahcène Yahia and takes place every week at the MCL Ma Bohème.
The Maison de la Culture et des Loisirs is an important cultural and community organization in Charleville-Mézières. It offers more than a hundred activities in a wide variety of fields and welcomes audiences of all ages.
The Circus Arts workshop is part of this offering for children and families. It is therefore not an independent circus school, but rather a regular and structured practice of circus arts within a cultural and leisure center.
Through its approach combining juggling , balancing , acrobatics and stage expression , the activity constitutes a true multidisciplinary introduction to circus arts for children from Charleville-Mézières and the surrounding area.
