The MJC L'Atelier in Monteux offers weekly circus arts workshops for children aged 3 and up. Juggling, tightrope walking, balance ball, clowning, and other circus skills are explored in a fun and engaging way. Children are grouped by age to gradually discover and develop their skills in various circus disciplines.
The MJC L'Atelier in Monteux, in the Vaucluse, offers workshops throughout the year dedicated to the discovery and practice of circus arts for children from the age of 3 .
The activity is organized into several groups according to the age of the participants in order to adapt the learning and situations offered to each child's development. The youngest can thus take their first steps into the world of the circus while the older ones continue their discovery and gradually develop their skills.
The workshops allow participants to experiment with several major branches of circus arts. Juggling, in particular, is explored through the manipulation and throwing of balls, allowing them to develop dexterity, coordination, and concentration.
Balance also plays an important role in the activity. Children can discover tightrope walking and ball walking, two activities that gradually require them to master their balance, posture, and movements.
The artistic dimension of the circus is not forgotten, as the world of clowning is also among the discoveries offered. The circus thus becomes a space where physical practice can blend with play, imagination, and expression.
The MJC's approach is intentionally playful . Children are encouraged to try, repeat, and progress while enjoying the process. This gradual discovery allows them to explore circus arts without the pressure of competition .
For the 2026-2027 season, four groups are offered on Wednesdays. Children aged 3-4 have their own time slot, as do the 4-5 year olds and the 6-8 year olds. A fourth group welcomes children over 8 years old.
This organization allows children to continue the activity over several years and to progress gradually from one group to another.
Circus arts are part of the broader project of MJC L'Atelier , a popular education association created in Monteux in 1964. The organization offers numerous cultural, artistic, sporting and leisure activities and seeks to promote access to education and culture as well as the development and autonomy of individuals.
The MJC also participates in the animation of local life and develops various projects and events for the inhabitants of Monteux.
The Circus Arts workshop provides a regular and structured amateur activity, allowing children from Monteux and the surrounding area to discover the world of circus arts from a very young age. Juggling, balancing, and clowning offer a diverse approach to the circus within a friendly and community-oriented environment.
