The MJC Étoile-sur-Rhône , in the Drôme, offers a weekly activity dedicated to the discovery and initiation of circus arts for children from the age of 3 .

The workshops are organized into several groups to adapt the practice to the age of the participants. Particular attention is paid to the youngest, with a gradual introduction to circus arts adapted to their motor skills.

The subjects covered

The activity allows children to experience several major circus disciplines. They discover acrobatics and different forms of juggling and object manipulation , including balls and scarves.

Pyramids also allow for a collective approach to acrobatics. Children learn to use their bodies in relation to others and to build different figures together.

Unicycling is also one of the disciplines explicitly offered in the workshop. It allows for the gradual development of balance, coordination, and control of movement.

An approach adapted to younger children

For younger children, learning is primarily based on discovery and experimentation . Activities are adapted to allow children to gradually explore the world of the circus while having fun.

Through the various activities offered, the child develops body awareness , discovers the effects of gravity , and works on their balance . The practice also contributes to the development of coordination , dexterity , and body control .

As they progress, children can discover new techniques and delve deeper into the disciplines covered during the sessions.

Course organization for the 2026-2027 season

For the 2026-2027 season, classes are divided into several groups: 3-4 year olds , 4-5 year olds , and children over 6 years old . The longer sessions are reserved for the older children to allow for more in-depth work.

The activity is led by Marika and is part of the regular activities offered by the MJC Étoile-sur-Rhône. Throughout the year, the MJC develops numerous cultural, artistic, sporting and leisure activities for children, young people and adults.

Therefore, it is not an independent circus school , but a structured annual workshop allowing children from Étoile-sur-Rhône and the surrounding area to regularly practice circus arts.

With an introduction offered from the age of 3 and a practice combining acrobatics , juggling , pyramids and unicycle , this workshop constitutes a real local offering for discovering circus arts in the Drôme.
