The MJC (Youth and Culture Center) of the Pays de Bégard offers weekly circus workshops for children from preschool to 6th grade. Juggling, acrobatics, object balancing, and theater allow children to discover different facets of circus arts while developing motor skills, creativity, self-confidence, teamwork, and collaboration. The year culminates in the preparation and performance of a show.
The MJC du Pays de Bégard, in Côtes-d'Armor, offers workshops throughout the year dedicated to the discovery and practice of circus arts for children and young people.
For the 2026-2027 season, the activity welcomes children from the middle section of preschool up to the 6th grade. Participants are divided into three groups in order to offer sessions adapted to their age and progress.
The teaching is multidisciplinary and allows students to discover several major branches of circus arts. Juggling is one of the techniques covered and helps develop dexterity, coordination, and concentration.
Acrobatics is another important aspect of the practice. Through various physical exercises, children gradually learn to better understand and control their bodies.
Balancing on objects complements this discovery. It allows one to experience different situations of instability and to work on support, posture, coordination and control of movements.
The workshop also incorporates theatre , bringing an artistic and expressive dimension to the practice. Circus arts are therefore not only approached from the perspective of technical performance: children are also encouraged to create , perform , and build relationships with others .
The workshop's teaching methods aim to develop motor skills, but also self-confidence and trust in others . Group practice fosters mutual support, cooperation, and teamwork.
Children are encouraged to experiment, gradually push their limits and develop their creativity in an age-appropriate environment.
This artistic and collective dimension culminates in the creation of an end-of-year show . For the 2026-2027 season, this show is scheduled for June 12, 2027. The skills acquired throughout the year can thus be showcased in a real performance project before an audience.
The sessions are led by Jocelyn Andrieu and take place every week in the small gymnasium in Bégard.
