Circus Moos is a circus school located in Kortrijk , West Flanders. Although recently established as an independent entity, it is nevertheless part of a much older local circus history, as it takes over and continues the activities previously developed in Kortrijk by Circusatelier Woesh .

The Circus Moos association was officially established in 2025. From the 2026-2027 season, it fully became the reference structure for regular circus courses in Kortrijk.

The school offers a program allowing children to start from the age of 3 and continue practicing throughout childhood, adolescence, and into young adulthood.

Groups and Ages

  • Mini Moosers — welcomes children aged 3 to 6. At this age, the circus is primarily approached in a playful way to allow the youngest children to discover their bodies, movement, balance and different situations inspired by circus disciplines.
  • Funky Moosers then welcomes children aged 7 to 10. From this age, the discovery gradually becomes more technical while maintaining a playful and multidisciplinary approach.
  • Moosers — intended for 11-15 year olds and allow this progression to continue during adolescence.
  • Big Moosers — welcomes young people aged 16 to 25 .

Circus Moos thus offers a continuity that is quite rare in an amateur school, since the multidisciplinary journey does not stop at the end of childhood.

The Multi-Circus

These different groups practice multi-circus arts. The goal is to discover several major families of circus arts rather than having to immediately choose a specialty.

The fundamental disciplines

  • Acrobatics is one of the fundamental disciplines. Students gradually learn rolls, balances, supports, inverted positions and different forms of acrobatic movements.
  • Juggling helps develop coordination, precision, and concentration. Students can manipulate balls, rings, and clubs, among other things.
  • The diabolo , the poi and the flowerstick are also among the techniques officially offered by Circus Moos.
  • Balances constitute another large family of practices. Students can experiment with, among other things, the tightrope, the balance ball, and the rola-bola.
  • The unicycle is also present in multidisciplinary courses and also benefits from a truly specialized course.

Specializations

Uni Moosers — unicycle

From the age of 10 , Uni Moosers can dedicate themselves specifically to learning and perfecting their unicycle skills. Beginners gradually learn to find their balance and ride independently, while more experienced riders can work on tricks and new techniques.

Acro Moosers — acrobatics

Acrobatics also benefits from a specialized course accessible from age 8. The Acro Moosers focus in particular on floor acrobatics, trampoline and various forms of group acrobatics.

The seesaw is one of the apparatuses practiced. It allows for a more dynamic and spectacular form of acrobatics.

Group lifts and acrobatics also play an important role. Students learn to build figures together, which requires technical skill, confidence, and cooperation.

Clowning, expression and theatre

Circus work is not limited to performing tricks. Circus Moos also incorporates clowning , expression , and theatre into its approach. Participants can learn to develop a character, improvise, and consider how to present their skills to an audience.

This dimension aligns with the school's desire to develop the creativity of each participant and to gradually encourage them to imagine their own acts.

Starting in September 2026 , Circus Moos is further expanding its stage presence with an annual Comedy Improvisation course. Open to those aged 16 and up, this workshop offers an introduction to theatrical improvisation through games, spontaneous scenes, and comedic techniques.

Circus Moos's pedagogy

Circus Moos' pedagogy is based on several principles clearly stated by the school.

Creativity

Creativity is one of these pillars. The circus is presented as a true testing ground, allowing children and young people to use their imagination and gradually develop their own artistic expression.

Engine development

Motor development represents a second important focus. Circus disciplines allow for the playful development of balance, coordination, strength, and flexibility.

Diversity

Circus Moos also strongly emphasizes diversity . The school aims to welcome participants regardless of their background, initial talent, or experience, and considers the diversity of profiles as an asset to the group.

A secure environment

The learning environment is designed to be safe, welcoming, and stimulating . Students are encouraged to try new things, gradually push their own boundaries, and build their self-confidence.

Shows, events and workshops

This progress can then be translated onto the stage. The school organizes small presentations and various projects allowing participants to showcase what they have learned and experience performing.

Circus Moos also participates in events organized in Kortrijk. In 2026 , for example, the school presented a show at the CircuTEX family festival.

Training courses are another important aspect of its activity. For the summer, Circus Moos organizes, in particular with Sport Kortrijk, multi-circus and acrobatics courses as well as courses combining circus and theatre.

These formats allow children to practice more intensively over several days and to discover disciplines that complement the annual courses.

The teaching staff

The teaching team itself has a background strongly linked to amateur circus.

Founder Siebe Derycke Cornille began his circus career at the age of 5 , became an assistant at 14 , then a teacher at 16, before creating Circus Moos at 18. He primarily leads multi-circus classes and workshops and has a particular affinity for clowning and slapstick .

Bram Missiaen , also a member of the team and vice-president of the association, also has a background that began very early in the circus. He teaches, in particular, multi-circus arts for those aged 16 and over, acrobatics, and unicycling.

A unique identity

Circus Moos therefore has a particular identity: legally, it is a young school created in 2025 , but pedagogically its activity is part of the continuity of several decades of development of amateur circus in West Flanders.

The official transfer of Woesh 's former business to Kortrijk thus makes it possible to preserve local courses while developing a new autonomous structure deeply rooted in the city.

With its courses from age 3 , its program up to age 25 , its multi-circus, its specializations in acrobatics and unicycle, its internships, its shows and its development around theatre and improvisation, Circus Moos is today a true amateur circus school in Kortrijk.
