Circus school in Marsac-sur-l'Isle, near Périgueux, offering a particularly comprehensive practice from 15 months to seniors: acrobatics, aerials, juggling, diabolo, balances, hand to hand, acro-dance and multidisciplinary courses, from beginner to advanced level.
Cirk'Us Studio is a circus school located in Marsac-sur-l'Isle , near Périgueux, in the heart of the Dordogne. It offers courses, workshops and training programs for both children and adults, with a particularly wide range of options allowing children to start circus arts from early childhood and continue their practice to an advanced level.
The school's project is to make circus arts accessible to as many people as possible in a space dedicated to learning, creativity and personal development.
Cirk'Us Studio welcomes practitioners of all ages and levels, from those discovering the circus for the first time to advanced students wishing to delve deeper into a particular discipline.
The school also welcomes professional artists . This coexistence between leisure, skill development and professional practice is one of the unique features of the place.
Cirk'Us Studio was born from the project of the Duo Diverse association, founded by Laura and Dorian, two professional artists trained at the Fratellini Academy in Paris.
Their artistic journey has led them to work in many countries and in very different contexts: theatres, films, galas, cruises, events and shows.
Passing on their knowledge has long been an important part of their journey. Since 2015, during the periods between their tours, they have taught at a circus school and notably mentored a group of young acrobats.
Several of these students will later go on to attend professional circus schools in France, England and Montreal.
This experience helps to make teaching a lasting component of their artistic activity. The Duo Diverse association was created in 2017 and is gradually developing its training activities for children and adults.
Cirk'Us Studio then became the place to bring together this educational and artistic experience in a permanent school in Dordogne.
Today, the school offers a particularly diverse range of courses. Unlike a school that operates exclusively with multidisciplinary courses organized by age, Cirk'Us Studio also allows students to choose specialized courses .
The levels are differentiated so that everyone can practice in a group that matches their experience. For children, the school distinguishes several levels ranging from beginner to advanced. A similar system is applied to adults.
This organization allows a beginner to discover a discipline while offering experienced practitioners the opportunity to work on much more technical elements.
The discovery begins very early with Baby Cirk , intended for children from approximately 15 months to 3 years old.
The child participates accompanied by their father or mother. The session mainly takes the form of a motor skills course allowing them to gradually discover movement and the circus environment.
Children aged 4 to 6 can then join the Mini Cirk . They discover several circus arts disciplines through a teaching method adapted to their age.
From the age of 7, the range of options becomes considerably wider.
The Tout Cirk course allows children and teenagers to discover several disciplines without immediately specializing. It provides a good entry point for understanding the diversity of circus arts practices.
Students who wish to further develop a technique can choose from many specialized courses.
Acrobatics plays an important role in the teaching. Cirk'Us Studio offers, in particular , gymnastic floor acrobatics as well as various courses adapted to the level of the participants.
Acro Fun offers a more freestyle approach to acrobatics and is aimed at teenagers and adults.
Acro-dance is another specialty of the school. It combines acrobatics, gymnastics and dance and allows students to work on fluidity, transitions and choreographic dimension alongside acrobatic elements.
Acro-dance classes are offered to both children and adults.
Hand balancing is taught specifically. The exercise can be done directly on the ground or using balance sticks .
This specialization allows one to approach the handstand as a discipline in its own right and to progressively develop placement, strength, control and precision.
Acrobatic lifts are also very common.
The hand-to-hand acrobatics course allows children and adults to work in pairs or trios. It requires partners to simultaneously develop technique, confidence, listening skills, and coordination.
Adults also have a duo lifts course incorporating acrobatic lifts and adagio.
Aerial disciplines constitute another major focus of Cirk'Us Studio.
The school offers specialized aerial silks courses for children and adults, with different levels allowing for real progression.
Aerial hoop also has its own specialized courses.
Aerial activities also include the trapeze , hammock , and aerial straps . Some courses allow you to practice these apparatus solo or in pairs.
This diversity allows students to discover several sensations and aerial techniques before possibly choosing a preferred apparatus.
Cirk'Us Studio also offers pole and lollipop . Lollipop combines a hoop with a vertical pole-like structure, allowing for a practice that blends aerial hoop and vertical bar work.
Courses are available for children, teenagers and adults, depending on the levels offered.
Juggling is also strongly represented in the school.
Specialized courses allow you to work with balls , clubs , rings and diabolos . They are accessible to children and adults.
Diabolo even benefits from specific courses, allowing practitioners particularly interested in this discipline to dedicate their session to it rather than only approaching it in a general course.
This organization is quite rare in a leisure school and constitutes a real peculiarity of Cirk'Us Studio: a juggler or a diaboloist can build a specialized practice there in the same way as an acrobat or an aerialist.
Alongside these technical courses, the school maintains multidisciplinary formats for people wishing to continue to experiment with different disciplines.
Tout Cirk exists for children but also for adults.
Adults thus have a particularly wide range of options. They can start circus arts without prior experience and then, according to their desires, move towards acrobatics, acro-dance, hand balancing, juggling, diabolo, silks, hoop, pole, lollipop, partner acrobatics or other aerial disciplines.
This diversity means that the circus is not considered an activity reserved for children.
The school also develops a specific formula called Cirk'Fit , intended for adults from the age of 16.
Cirk'Fit is at the intersection of fitness, wellness, and circus arts. Its structure is more flexible than that of traditional school classes.
Participants can choose their sessions each week according to their preferences and schedule.
Some sessions are geared towards physical preparation and well-being, including muscle strengthening, flexibility and body work.
Others allow you to discover circus practices such as hand balancing, juggling or a Tout Cirk course.
This formula allows adults to try out different disciplines without having to immediately choose a specialty and keep the same course throughout the season.
The school advertises more than thirty Cirk'Fit sessions per week for much of the year, in addition to sessions organized during certain school holiday periods.
Seniors are not forgotten. Cirk'Us Studio also offers a format for people aged 60 and over, confirming the school's commitment to developing a practice accessible to different generations.
The educational offering therefore covers a particularly wide range: Baby Cirk from early childhood, Mini Cirk , children, teenagers, adults and seniors.
Students are then directed according to their age, but also according to their level and the disciplines they wish to practice.
Trial classes play a role in this guidance. After the session, a coach can advise the participant to help them identify the class(es) that best match their level and objectives.
The school distinguishes several technical levels in order to prevent a beginner from ending up in a group that already requires significant experience.
For the most dedicated students, the possibility of taking several courses each week allows them to build a much more intensive learning path.
Annual programs can range from a single course to several weekly sessions. Some students can therefore combine general practice with several specializations.
This organization is particularly suited to practitioners wishing to seriously delve deeper into circus arts without necessarily immediately entering professional training.
Artistic creation also retains an important place in the project.
The school's programs include, among other things, the preparation of an end-of-year show for many students.
This performance allows students to transform the skills acquired during classes into a real stage production and to discover the requirements of presenting in front of an audience.
The link with professional entertainment is strengthened by the founders' background.
Laura and Dorian continue to carry on the artistic identity of Duo Diverse. Their international experience and professional training inform the teaching methods developed at the studio.
Cirk'Us Studio therefore does not function solely as a place of leisure: the school seeks to create a community bringing together different levels of practice around circus disciplines.
The training courses complement the regular classes and allow for more intensive practice during certain holiday periods.
The entire project thus allows several ways to enter the circus arts: awakening and motor skills for toddlers, multidisciplinary discovery, recreational practice, technical specialization, improvement, physical preparation or advanced practice.
This diversity is one of Cirk'Us Studio's greatest strengths.
The same family can find activities there that correspond to very different ages and expectations, while a student can gradually develop their path over the years.
The school can also support particularly motivated practitioners towards high technical levels thanks to the professional experience of its teachers and the diversity of courses offered.
Cirk'Us Studio is therefore today a particularly comprehensive place for the practice of circus arts in the Périgueux area.
His project combines accessibility, technical progression, creativity and stage experience , with an offering ranging from early motor development for toddlers to advanced training and professional practice.
