Cirk & Dance, an amateur circus school located in Saussan and Pignan, offers a multidisciplinary program for children as young as 3, combining acrobatics, juggling, balancing, stage performance, and numerous aerial disciplines. The school is particularly known for its outdoor flying trapeze installed in Pignan.
Cirk & Dance is a circus school located in Saussan and Pignan , in the Hérault region, near Montpellier .
Created in 2018 by Clément Mazeau , it develops a popular education project dedicated to the discovery, learning and improvement of circus arts.
The school welcomes children from the age of 3 , teenagers and adults. Its teaching is multidisciplinary and allows exploration of the major technical families of the circus: acrobatics, juggling and object manipulation, balances, aerial disciplines and stage expression.
Acrobatics includes, in particular, ground work, pyramids and acrobatic lifts, AirTrack and mini-trampoline .
Manipulating objects allows you to discover balls, clubs, Chinese plates, bolas, devil sticks, rings, scarves and diabolos.
Balancing on objects also occupies an important place with the balance ball, the wire, the rolla-bolla, the slackline, the unicycle and the stilts.
Cirk & Dance has a particularly well-developed aerial arts program. The school has a wide variety of apparatus allowing students to work with fixed trapeze, double trapeze, triple trapeze, aerial hoop, aerial silks, aerial sphere, straps, Spanish rope, smooth rope, and various aerial frames.
Teenagers and adults can, in particular, take courses specifically dedicated to aerial disciplines .
One of Cirk & Dance's great features is its flying trapeze . Installed outdoors in the Saint-Estève park in Pignan, this equipment allows for acrobatics to be practiced approximately seven meters above the ground in conditions specifically designed for this discipline.
The flying trapeze is accessible both as a discovery activity and as a regular practice activity .
For more experienced practitioners, especially from the age of 13 , the work can evolve towards the performance of figures with swinging and the transition to catching with a carrier.
The school thus has a genuine specialization in a discipline that is still relatively rare among recreational circus schools.
The multidisciplinary courses are organised by age groups in order to adapt the learning to the abilities of each participant.
Artistic expression is an integral part of the educational project.
Theatre, dance, improvisation, expression, and staging complement the technical training. The goal is to enable participants not only to learn steps but also to understand how to use them in an artistic approach and in the creation of a performance.
This approach leads in particular to the preparation of the end-of-year show .
Cirk & Dance aims to offer an accessible and supportive practice, without elitism. The school defines itself as a space for popular education where each participant can progress at their own pace, develop their autonomy, creativity, confidence, and ability to make choices.
The courses are taught by qualified instructors in the field of circus arts.
Clément Mazeau , founder of the school, holds the BPJEPS Circus Activities qualification. Passionate about aerial disciplines in particular, he developed Cirk & Dance from 2018 before realizing in 2023 the project of a flying trapeze specific to the school.
The teaching team also includes Justine , a circus arts practitioner since 1998, specializing in aerial disciplines and acrobatic lifts. After various experiences in shows, festivals, and tours in France, she joined the Cirk & Dance teaching team in 2024.
In addition to weekly classes, the association organizes workshops and various one-off events allowing people to discover or deepen their knowledge of circus arts.
Cirk & Dance's educational project also aims to reach a wide range of audiences. The association views circus arts as an educational tool that can be adapted to the abilities and pace of each individual, from young children to adults, as well as to people with disabilities and elderly people living in specialized facilities.
The school also develops performance and entertainment activities. Cirk & Dance is indeed both an educational association and a structure within the performing arts sector .
This organization allows Cirk & Dance to offer a particularly diverse range of activities, from circus arts for children as young as 3 to adult practice and advanced training in certain disciplines.
With acrobatics, lifts, juggling, diabolo, devil stick, unicycle, tightrope, slackline, stilts, numerous aerial apparatus and especially the flying trapeze, Cirk & Dance is an amateur school with a particularly wide range of techniques.
His project combines technical learning , artistic expression , collective creation , performance and personal development in a popular education approach open to the widest possible audience.
