Circusatelier Cirki is an amateur circus school located in Heers, in the Belgian province of Limburg. It offers children a progressive introduction to the different families of circus techniques in a fun, positive and accessible environment.

Cirki's objective is not to place children in a competitive environment but to allow them to experiment , discover their abilities and progress at their own pace .

No prior experience is necessary to get started.

Multi-circus classes allow children to try several disciplines and develop a versatile skill set.

Juggling

Juggling is one of the key elements of this learning. Students use scarves, balls, flower sticks, and various other manipulative objects.

These exercises allow you to gradually work on coordination , concentration , precision and control of movements .

The work of balance

The work on balance also plays an important role.

Children can, in particular, experiment with the balance ball, the barrel and the rola-bola.

The diversity of these devices allows them to discover different ways of managing their balance and to better understand the movements and positions of their body.

Acrobatics

Acrobatics constitutes the third major family of techniques explicitly integrated into the courses.

Cirki develops in particular duo acrobatics, where cooperation and trust between partners become as important as technical execution.

This collective dimension corresponds to the general philosophy of the school.

Children are encouraged to learn together, to help each other, and to respect differences in pace and abilities.

Self-confidence

Self-confidence is also an important learning objective.

Each new technique represents a small challenge that the child can gradually understand, experiment with and then master.

Success is therefore not necessarily linked to the difficulty of a figure but to the individual progress made by the participant.

The 2026-2027 season

For the 2026-2027 season, Cirki is offering several multi-circus groups adapted to school age.

This allows children to maintain a regular practice throughout the school year.

The sessions allow for alternating between different disciplines and avoid premature specialization.

This approach gives each child the opportunity to gradually identify the techniques with which they feel most comfortable or which they wish to explore further.

The teaching method is based on a safe environment in which fun and experimentation remain at the center of the sessions.

The circus thus becomes at once a physical activity , an artistic practice and a means of developing different personal and social skills .

The benefits of each discipline

  • Learning acrobatics develops body control and confidence .
  • Partner exercises add a dimension of communication and responsibility towards one's partner.
  • Juggling requires patience and perseverance , since a trick often requires many attempts before it can be mastered.
  • Balance equipment, on the other hand, develops concentration , posture and the ability to gradually manage instability.

This complementarity between disciplines constitutes one of the main advantages of the multi-circus offered by Cirki.

A school rooted in the Flemish landscape

The school is fully integrated into the landscape of Flemish circus workshops and is identified as such by Circuscentrum.

Its location in Heers makes it possible to offer regular circus arts training in a more rural part of Limburg, outside of the large structures present in the main Belgian cities.

Cirki thus constitutes a true school of amateur practice, with regular courses allowing children to discover the circus in a structured setting.

Its multidisciplinary , playful and non-competitive approach makes the circus a tool for simultaneously developing physical abilities , creativity , self-confidence , perseverance and cooperation .
