Cirkulárium – Centrum nového cirkusu

Cirkulárium is a new circus center located in Plzeň, in the west of the Czech Republic. Founded in 2014 by the Žongléros Ansámbl association, it offers regular instruction in circus arts and develops projects combining artistic practice, education and social inclusion.

The center welcomes participants of all ages, from young children accompanied by their parents to teenagers, adults, and seniors. Its program combines multidisciplinary initiation, technical development, and collective creation.

A circus school for all ages

The teaching begins in early childhood with PidiCirk , intended for children from 18 months to three years old accompanied by an adult.

The MiniCirk groups, for children aged three to five, then offer a first discovery of circus disciplines through games of movement, manipulation and balance.

Older children join groups adapted to their development: Cirkusová školka for six to eight year olds, then Cirkusová škola for eight to twelve year olds.

Teenagers can continue their learning in TeensCirk groups, while adults have access to specialized or multidisciplinary courses.

Juggling and object manipulation

Juggling plays an important role in Cirkulárium's activities.

Participants discover different manipulation techniques and learn to build sequences adapted to their level.

The center also offers courses dedicated to flow arts and hula-hoop, allowing participants to explore the movement of objects in space and their relationship with the body.

These practices encourage coordination, precision, concentration, and creativity.

Ground acrobatics and lifts

Floor acrobatics is part of the multidisciplinary teaching offered to children and teenagers.

Cirkulárium also organizes acroyoga and duo acrobatics classes for adults.

The exercises help develop strength, mobility and coordination, while also placing great emphasis on cooperation between partners.

Aerial silks and hoop

The center offers specialized courses in aerial silks and aerial hoop , divided into several levels.

Participants gradually learn the positions, climbs, figures and transitions specific to each apparatus.

These disciplines are taught in rooms equipped with anchor points, safety devices and landing mats.

Specialized aerial courses are also offered to children from the age of ten.

Balance and body exploration

Multidisciplinary programs allow students to discover different balance techniques, including the balance ball .

Students also work on coordination, mobility and body awareness through exercises adapted to their age.

The center also offers sessions on hand mobility and balance.

Social circus and school interventions

Cirkulárium develops projects using circus arts as tools for education, encounter and inclusion.

The association works with schools and participates in social circus initiatives.

She is one of the founding members of Cirkonet , a Czech-Slovak platform dedicated to the development of social circus and circus pedagogy.

This educational dimension complements the regular courses offered to the general public.

The circus for seniors

The Cirkus bez věku program, which means "Circus without age", allows older people to discover circus practices.

The sessions are adapted to the abilities of the participants and promote movement, coordination and group interaction.

This initiative illustrates the centre's desire to make the new circus accessible to different generations.

A specially equipped space

Cirkulárium has three training rooms located in the Atom shopping center, in the Lochotín district.

The facilities include, in particular, surfaces adapted for movement, suspension points for aerial disciplines, safety equipment, landing mats and juggling equipment.

The centre also offers open training slots for practitioners aged at least fifteen years old.

Shows and artistic creation

Each year, the students participate in Cirkus do Gala , a collective show organized at the Alfa Theatre in Plzeň.

This event allows groups of children and adults to showcase the results of their learning through juggling, acrobatics, and aerial disciplines.

Cirkulárium also organizes workshops, meetings and events dedicated to the new circus.

A center committed to transmission

Beyond its courses, Cirkulárium contributes to the development of circus pedagogy in the Czech Republic.

In particular, he collaborated with the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň on a continuing education course dedicated to the new circus.

His work thus combines amateur practice, training, educational projects and artistic development.

Thanks to the diversity of its disciplines, its specialized facilities and its actions with different audiences, Cirkulárium constitutes an important center for the transmission of the new circus arts in the Plzeň region.
