Presentation

Cirkutopik is a circus school and performing arts association located in Le Havre, Seine-Maritime . Its regular classes take place at La Fabrique d'Aplemont , 24 rue des Œillets , in a space allowing children, teenagers and adults to discover, practice and deepen their knowledge of different circus disciplines.

Educational project

The school champions a playful and multidisciplinary approach to circus arts. Its educational program is not solely based on learning technical skills: the diversity of disciplines is used to allow everyone to find a practice in which they can progress and develop their potential. Through circus arts, Cirkutopik aims in particular to develop:

  • motor skills
  • self-confidence
  • balance
  • body awareness
  • perseverance
  • concentration
  • group cohesion

Subjects taught

Circus Arts Families

The curriculum is organized around the major branches of circus arts. Cirkutopik offers, in particular:

  • aerial disciplines
  • juggling
  • balances on objects
  • acrobatics and acrobatic lifts
  • magic
  • body expression

This multidisciplinary approach allows students to discover several techniques before gradually developing their preferences and skills.

Audiences and age groups

The school welcomes children from the age of 4. Classes are then divided by age and level to support their progress. Advanced training sessions are also offered to practitioners with more experience.

  • groups 4-5 years old
  • 6-7 years old
  • 6-8 years old
  • 6-9 years old
  • 8-11 years old
  • 8-14 years old
  • 10-15 years old
  • teenagers and young people from 10 years old

Adults

Adults also have access to regular classes. Some sessions allow for general practice of circus arts, while a specific group welcomes adults wishing to become more involved in creation and participate in performances. This stage aspect is important in the Cirkutopik project, which presents itself as both a circus school and a performing arts association.

Internships and holidays

In addition to weekly classes, Cirkutopik organizes workshops during school holidays. These workshops may be multidisciplinary or focused more specifically on certain types of apparatus. For example, in the summer of 2026, the school offered:

  • internships for 4-5 year olds and 6-9 year olds
  • Aerial sports training courses accessible from age 10 to adults
  • A training course covering all disciplines, reserved for experienced practitioners.
  • other sessions welcomed 6-8 year olds and practitioners from 9 years old

These courses allow participants to discover the circus as well as to continue regular practice during the holidays.

External interventions

Cirkutopik also develops its activities outside of its regular classes. The association participates in cultural projects with middle and high schools, after-school programs, employee committees, and vocational training centers. It can thus use circus arts as an educational, artistic, and collective tool for very diverse audiences.

Adapted circus

Adapted circus arts are explicitly part of Cirkutopik's mission. The association has enshrined in its mission the commitment to promoting accessibility to circus arts for people with disabilities. This inclusive approach complements a pedagogy that more broadly seeks to empower each participant through the diversity of disciplines offered.

Local cultural life

The association also participates in the cultural life of Le Havre. It is regularly involved in local events and activities related to circus arts and live performance. Its activities are therefore not limited to classroom training: it creates connections between teaching, creation, performance, and the discovery of live performance.

For the 2026-2027 season, Cirkutopik will continue with this schedule, offering classes five days a week, from Monday to Saturday, depending on the group. The current teaching team consists of Bertrand, Camille, and Anaïs . Classes are held at La Fabrique d'Aplemont, where the association now has a new pit designed to improve training conditions and safety for participants.

Conclusion

With classes starting from age 4, teen and adult groups, advanced training programs, workshops, outreach to schools and community organizations, and a commitment to adapted circus arts, Cirkutopik is a multidisciplinary circus school deeply rooted in Le Havre's cultural life. It caters to both those wishing to discover the circus arts and experienced practitioners eager to progress, refine their skills, and participate in artistic projects or performances.
