Cirquenbulle is a non-profit circus school located in the canton of Geneva, Switzerland. It offers regular circus arts instruction in several municipalities, including Geneva, Versoix and Troinex.

The association aims to transmit circus knowledge and techniques in an environment based on tolerance , respect , mutual support , fair play and self-improvement .

His teaching approach prioritizes a progression adapted to each participant, without losing sight of the pleasure of practicing together and the artistic dimension of the circus.

A diversity of circus disciplines

Cirquenbulle offers a particularly diverse introduction to circus disciplines. Students can notably experiment with juggling, tightrope walking or ball balancing, unicycling, trampolining, ground acrobatics and hand-to-hand acrobatics.

The teaching also includes many aerial techniques, including trapeze, silks, rope and flying rope.

Other apparatus and disciplines enrich this learning, including the Chinese pole, the Russian bar, the seesaw, ladders and various balance techniques.

This diversity allows students to gradually discover the major circus families before delving deeper into certain disciplines according to their desires and level.

Courses in the canton of Geneva

The courses are organized in several locations in the canton of Geneva.

  • Versoix : parent-child sessions for 3 to 6 year olds , general courses for 7 to 18 year olds and advanced courses for teenagers aged 12 to 18 .
  • Geneva : courses in the Eaux-Vives district, as well as in the Rive sector, where the association offers, in particular, an advanced practice intended for teenagers and adults.
  • Troinex : in collaboration with the local parents' association.

Internships and workshops

Cirquenbulle also offers workshops during school holidays, particularly in Versoix.

These workshops allow children to discover circus arts over several consecutive days or to continue a practice already begun.

Younger students can participate in parent-child activities, while more experienced students have access to advanced and specialized courses, organized in small groups to allow for in-depth technical work.

The association also offers workshops for adults, particularly focusing on aerial hoop, aerial silks and balances.

Artistic creation and performances

Artistic creation and presentation before an audience occupy an important place in school life.

Cirquenbulle organizes shows and galas allowing students to share their learning and discover the demands of stage performance.

The association also participates in various cultural events and local activities, offering entertainment and introductions to circus arts.

It has equipment and a marquee which allows it to develop some of its activities outside of the usual teaching locations.

The Cirquenbulle Caravan

Another particularly interesting aspect of his project is the Cirquenbulle Caravan .

This social circus initiative involves temporarily moving a circus workshop to different schools and community centers in the canton of Geneva.

Organised over ten to fifteen sessions, these interventions allow children to discover juggling, balances, acrobatics, human pyramids, unicycle and acting games.

When facilities allow, aerial disciplines may also be offered.

The Caravan seeks in particular to reach children who would not necessarily have the opportunity to join the association's regular classes.

Supported since 2022 by the Department of Social Cohesion , this scheme makes it possible to offer free activities within the limits of available funding.

An identity that transcends the traditional circus school

Cirquenbulle thus possesses an identity that goes beyond the sole framework of a traditional circus school.

It combines amateur teaching, technical development, internships, artistic creation, activities and local social actions.

Its presence on several sites, its teaching team and its commitment to accessibility make Cirquenbulle a key player in the transmission of circus arts in the canton of Geneva.
