Its multidisciplinary teaching allows children to discover juggling, acrobatics, balancing, unicycling, trampolining, and aerial arts in a fun, creative, and supportive environment.
Coquino is a circus school located in Morges, in the canton of Vaud, in French-speaking Switzerland. Founded in 1998 by Frédéric Klink , educator and sports instructor, it has been developing a project dedicated to the discovery, learning and transmission of circus arts for over twenty-five years.
The school is run by the Coquino Association , created in August 2004, whose objective is to develop and manage regular teaching of circus activities.
Coquino welcomes a particularly wide audience, from toddlers to adults, offering courses adapted to the age and experience of each individual.
Children aged 2 to 4 can discover the world of the circus accompanied by a parent, through activities promoting motor skills, balance, coordination and the pleasure of moving together.
The following groups allow progression by age brackets: 5 to 7 years , 6 to 8 years , 8 to 10 years , 9 to 12 years and adolescents over 12 years .
The teaching is based on a particularly rich multidisciplinary approach.
This diversity allows students to explore several circus families before developing affinities with certain disciplines.
The teaching method emphasizes the pleasure of practice , creativity , self-confidence and personal development .
The children move around in small groups , generally with one supervisor for every six students, in order to benefit from support adapted to their progress.
The teaching team is led by Frédéric Klink , surrounded by around twenty collaborators, teachers, professional artists and instructors.
Several former students are now involved in teaching, contributing to the transmission of know-how between generations.
The school also offers courses for adults , with the opportunity to discover or deepen different disciplines depending on the participants' expectations.
For students wishing to delve deeper into the artistic dimension, Coquino has a troupe dedicated to shows and entertainment.
Open to experienced students of at least 10 years already attending weekly classes, this troupe allows for the development of collective work in creation and performance.
Participants take part in various shows, cultural events and activities organized in the region.
Coquino also develops a significant internship activity during school holidays.
These workshops allow participants to discover or deepen their knowledge of circus techniques in a creative context, with groups divided according to the age and level of the participants.
Some courses are multidisciplinary , while others are devoted to specific techniques, notably the swinging trapeze or the trampoline .
Activities are also organised outside of Morges, notably in Château-d'Œx and in the Vallée de Joux .
The association also works with schools in the canton of Vaud , offering circus workshops and educational projects that can lead to shows presented to families.
These interventions use circus arts as a tool for motor development , artistic discovery and student empowerment .
The school regularly participates in local events, festivals and cultural events, helping to introduce the circus to a wider audience.
With its regular teaching, technical diversity, internships, artistic troupe and involvement in schools, Coquino constitutes a particularly complete circus school in the associative landscape of French-speaking Switzerland.
