Déclic Circus is a circus school located in Gironde with two sites, in Libourne and Le Nizan. It welcomes children, teenagers and adults around a multidisciplinary practice of circus arts, complemented by specialized courses in aerial silks and trapeze, parent-child workshops, adapted circus, training courses and a student troupe that performs at external events.
Déclic Circus is an organization dedicated to teaching and creating circus arts, based in Gironde. It currently has two schools: one in Libourne and a second in Le Nizan , between Langon and Bazas.
The history of Déclic Circus dates back to 1986. The Libourne circus school was created in 1996. The year 2026 thus marks both the fortieth anniversary of Déclic Circus and the thirtyth anniversary of its establishment in Libourne.
The school welcomes a particularly wide range of students, from toddlers to adults. In Libourne, regular classes are organized by age group in order to adapt learning to the development and level of the participants.
Children can start weekly classes from the age of 4. Groups are then offered for 6-8 year olds , 8-10 year olds , and up to teenagers aged 10 to 18. Adults also have their own dedicated time slots.
For younger children, Déclic Circus offers a parent-child program. These monthly workshops allow children aged 2 to 3 and then 4 to 5 to discover the world of the circus accompanied by an adult.
The teaching is multidisciplinary and allows students to discover the different traditional families of circus arts. Acrobatics, balancing, juggling and aerial disciplines are part of the school's educational environment.
Déclic Circus also offers a course specifically dedicated to aerial disciplines . Students can delve deeper into aerial silks and trapeze in a time slot separate from the multidisciplinary courses.
The school complements this approach with physical activities for adults, including acro-yoga , muscle strengthening and stretching .
Significant emphasis is placed on creation and performance before an audience . Déclic Circus has a troupe made up of students from the school. They prepare acts and shows that can be presented outdoors in a wide variety of settings: festivals, carnivals, Christmas markets, retirement homes, and other events.
This stage dimension allows students to extend technical learning through genuine creative work, interpretation and performance .
The workshops organized during school holidays constitute another aspect of the activity. They can combine the discovery and improvement of circus techniques with more specifically artistic work.
Some workshops, for example, combine clowning with circus arts. Children begin by discovering the clown character and expression, then choose one or more circus techniques and gradually build an act in which the two dimensions are brought together.
Déclic Circus also develops significant work around adapted circus arts. Specific time slots are dedicated to this practice in Libourne, allowing them to welcome audiences requiring an adapted educational approach.
The second Nizan location allows the school to reach a more rural audience, in the area between Langon and Bazas. Year-round courses are offered there to children and teenagers, supplemented by workshops during school holidays.
The teachers at Déclic Circus are also professional artists with stage experience. The educational activities thus coexist with the company's work and the production of professional shows.
This dual identity of school and company fuels the Déclic Circus project: to transmit the techniques of circus arts while maintaining a direct relationship with creation and live performance.
With forty years of existence for the structure, thirty years of teaching in Libourne, two locations in Gironde, courses ranging from early childhood to adults, a troupe of students, internships, aerial disciplines and an adapted circus activity, Déclic Circus is today a well-established amateur circus school in the Gironde region.
