El Circ Petit is a school, a company and a space dedicated to circus arts located in Canet de Mar , in the Maresme region , north of Barcelona.

The circus training project began in 2007 and has developed over the years around the teaching , creation and dissemination of circus arts.

Since 2019 , El Circ Petit has been installed at the La Vinya creation center, historic location of the Catalan company Comediants .

The school has the unique feature of offering its activities under real circus tents .

This environment allows students to discover circus disciplines in a space directly associated with the professional world of entertainment.

The school welcomes children , teenagers and adults .

The training of young people is based on a multidisciplinary approach allowing them to gradually discover several major families of circus arts.

Acrobatics is one of the fundamental disciplines of teaching.

It helps to develop coordination, agility, strength, flexibility and body awareness.

Juggling also occupies an important place in the curriculum.

Students can learn to manipulate different objects such as balls, rings, and clubs.

The diabolo, Chinese plates and the devil stick are also part of the equipment used in the activities offered by El Circ Petit.

Balances constitute another important family.

The rola-bola allows you to work on positioning, control and stability.

The balance ball allows you to experience a different relationship to movement.

The unicycle is also among the techniques offered.

The tightrope or tightrope allows one to gradually discover the principles of balance on a narrow surface.

Stilts and slacklining can complement this discovery during workshops and activities organized by the school.

Aerial disciplines are also well represented.

Aerial silks allow students to progressively learn climbs, positions, figures and sequences.

The trapeze is another important apparatus in teaching.

Aerial hoop complements the offering provided by the school.

Multidisciplinary practice allows young students to avoid specializing too quickly.

They can experiment with different techniques and gradually discover the disciplines with which they have the most affinity.

Youth groups for the 2026-2027 season

For the 2026-2027 season, the school is offering a Circ Infantil group for children aged 6 to 8 .

The Circ Pre-Juvenil group welcomes children aged 9 to 11 .

The Circ Juvenil group is for young people aged 12 to 16 .

No prior experience is necessary to join the youth group.

Regular classes are organized into two-hour sessions.

Students discover different disciplines throughout the year, adapted to their age and level.

Technical and educational training

Technical learning is accompanied by a more comprehensive educational approach.

Teamwork is one of the values emphasized by the school.

Camaraderie and mutual support also play an important role.

Students are encouraged to persevere in the face of difficulties encountered while learning a new technique.

Pushing oneself to the limit gradually allows one to develop confidence and autonomy.

Regular practice also promotes coordination and psychomotor skills.

Play and creativity are used to make learning dynamic and allow students to experiment.

The year is not limited to the acquisition of isolated techniques.

The groups are also preparing an end-of-course show .

This representation makes it possible to link technical learning to a genuine artistic experience.

The students thus gradually discover the construction of a show and its presentation in front of an audience.

Activities for adults

El Circ Petit also offers activities for adults .

The offer may include courses in aerial techniques, balance, verticals and movement.

Adults can thus discover the circus or delve deeper into certain specific disciplines.

Interventions with schools

The school also develops significant activity with educational institutions.

Schools can come directly to Canet de Mar to spend a day dedicated to circus arts.

Activities are offered starting from kindergarten .

Groups are welcomed to the facilities of El Circ Petit and can participate in workshops led by artists and trainers.

Participants discover several disciplines in the form of a course.

The workshops may include juggling, balancing, unicycling, stilts, rola-bola, slacklining, diabolo and various object manipulations.

Children can also experience aerial disciplines when the format of the activity allows.

Before the practical session, the artists present the different techniques and explain how the equipment works.

Participants can then try the disciplines themselves.

El Circ Petit has enough equipment to accommodate large school groups simultaneously.

The facilities also allow groups to have lunch on site.

A day can be complemented by a professional show under the big top.

The children thus successively move from the role of participant to that of spectator.

Following the performance, discussions with the artists can be arranged.

This formula allows you to discover the circus from several angles: physical practice, artistic creation, live performance and professional profession.

El Circ Petit also intervenes directly in schools.

His teams can move the necessary equipment to organize workshops in a school, college, leisure center or other establishment.

These interventions can accommodate both small groups and much larger numbers of people.

The team adapts the organization and number of workshops to the audience being welcomed.

Municipalities, cultural centers, festivals and events can also call upon El Circ Petit.

Discovery areas are then set up to allow the public to freely experiment with different techniques under the supervision of the artists.

The project also develops internships during school holidays .

These periods allow children to practice circus arts more intensively.

The internships combine learning, play, creation and group living.

They also allow children who do not attend school during the year to discover the activity.

A professional circus company

El Circ Petit does not function solely as a school.

The organization is also a professional circus company .

She develops and distributes her own shows.

The creations combine different disciplines such as acrobatics, juggling, balancing, magic, hula hooping and aerial disciplines.

This professional activity creates a direct link between teaching and live performance.

The students frequent a space where artists also work.

They can attend performances and discover the different stages of creating a show.

The big tops regularly host family shows .

El Circ Petit also participates in events, festivals and programs organized in other municipalities.

The company has over fifteen years of experience in the fields of animation, training and representation.

Tin Peláez Montero, project director

The project is led by Tin Peláez Montero .

He discovered the circus in the late 1990s before undertaking various training courses in Catalonia and Italy.

He then continued his training at the Carampa circus school in Madrid, particularly in the fields of juggling and balancing.

His career also took him to Italy, where he taught balancing in circus training structures.

He worked in particular at TeatrAzionE and then at the Vertigo circus school in Turin.

His professional experience also includes working under the big top and creating shows.

In 2007 , he returned to Catalonia and founded El Circ Petit in the Maresme.

The training project developed since that period has gradually evolved to its current location in Canet de Mar.

The school is part of the Xarxa d'Espais de Circ de Catalunya , a network bringing together different spaces dedicated to the practice and development of circus arts in Catalonia.

El Circ Petit is also linked to the Associació de Professionals de Circ de Catalunya .

This integration into professional networks allows the structure to maintain close relations with the Catalan circus sector.

A place with multiple functions

The place fulfills several complementary functions.

  • It provides a training space for children, young people and adults.
  • It allows artists to work and create .
  • It hosts shows .
  • It receives visits from educational institutions .
  • He develops workshops outside the walls .
  • Finally, it serves as the headquarters of a professional company .

This diversity allows the circus to be discovered far beyond the framework of a simple weekly class.

Children can start with a discovery activity and then continue their learning for several years.

Teenagers can develop a more independent practice.

Adults have access to specialized courses.

Educational institutions can use the location as an educational destination.

Families can attend shows under a big top.

Artists and trainers ensure continuity between teaching and professional practice.

El Circ Petit thus constitutes a complete circus space in the Maresme, combining training, artistic practice, creation, performance and transmission of circus arts since 2007 .
