Escola Circ Los is a circus school located in Santa Maria de Palautordera, in the Baix Montseny region near Barcelona. The school develops a teaching approach adapted to the age and individuality of each student, from psychomotor skills for the youngest to more advanced artistic practice. A member of FEECSE, Circ Los combines teaching, physical practice, artistic creation, and a socio-educational approach.
Escola Circ Los is a circus school located in Santa Maria de Palautordera , in Baix Montseny , north of Barcelona.
The training project began in 2009 under the Circ Cric big top, with an initial course aimed at children and young people from Baix Montseny.
The goal is then to bring circus arts closer to the population and to promote their presence in culture and society.
The school then expanded to Sant Celoni , where Escola Circ Los was officially established in 2010 .
In October 2017 , she settled permanently in Santa Maria de Palautordera .
This facility now welcomes students from all over Baix Montseny .
Escola Circ Los offers a practice adapted to the different stages of life, from early childhood to adulthood .
For the youngest children, teaching begins with work around psychomotor skills.
Circus allows children to progressively explore their bodies, balance, coordination, and relationship to space.
The activities then evolve with age in order to offer learning opportunities that correspond to the physical and personal development of each student.
The individuality of the practitioner is an important element of the school's pedagogy.
Teachers seek to adapt objectives and progression to the abilities and needs of each individual.
Children gradually discover several major families of circus arts.
Ground acrobatics is one of the foundations of the teaching.
It allows you to work on coordination, strength, mobility, agility and body awareness.
The trampoline occupies a particularly important place in the technical identity of the school.
Students can practice on the large trampoline , but also on the mini-trampoline and the double mini-trampoline .
These devices allow the development of jumping techniques and acrobatic movements in conditions adapted to progression.
Aerial disciplines constitute another major focus.
This diversity offers students the opportunity to explore different relationships to height, suspension, and movement.
Juggling constitutes another large family of disciplines.
The diversity of objects allows for work on coordination, precision, rhythm and concentration.
Balances on objects also occupy an important place.
Acrobatic lifts, on the other hand, allow you to work on balance in groups.
They require trust, communication and cooperation between partners.
Physical theatre complements technical learning by adding a scenic and expressive dimension.
The school may also occasionally address other techniques in the context of internships and monographic training courses.
This diversity allows us to maintain a largely multidisciplinary approach to the circus.
Children can explore several disciplines before gradually identifying those they wish to explore further.
Teenagers continue their technical and artistic development by benefiting from teaching adapted to their age.
The training can then evolve towards a more intensive and more artistic practice.
Adults also have access to activities tailored to their goals.
Escola Circ Los thus welcomes very different profiles, from people discovering the circus to practitioners with advanced experience.
The teaching is led by a team with both artistic experience and training in teaching circus arts .
The teachers' career paths combine professional practice, performance, and pedagogical reflection.
The team has expertise in teaching aerial acrobatics, trampoline, trapeze, silks and various circus techniques.
Several teachers have undergone training specifically dedicated to circus pedagogy.
These courses cover topics including the teaching of circus techniques, acrobatics, aerial disciplines and safety in teaching.
The team also has experience in the field of social circus.
Some of its members have trained in the social circus trainer training methods developed in the Cirque du Soleil environment.
Others have participated in projects using circus arts with young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods or prison facilities.
This experience helps to shape the educational philosophy of the school.
Escola Circ Los belongs to the Federación Española de Escuelas de Circo Socio Educativo .
This membership places it within the Spanish network of structures using circus arts as training and educational tools.
The school also participated in Catalan networks dedicated to circus training.
This networking allows for the sharing of teaching practices and contributes to the development of circus education in Spain.
The project also maintains a direct relationship with the professional world.
Escola Circ Los is linked to the company Circ Los .
The company has extensive experience in live performance and contemporary circus.
She develops creations aimed at different audiences and performs in many contexts.
This close relationship between school and company allows students to develop in an environment directly connected to the professional practice of circus arts.
The company's artists have international backgrounds.
They have worked in various circuses, companies and projects in Spain, France, Portugal, Denmark, Brazil and other countries.
Some have also participated in artistic and humanitarian missions with organizations such as Clowns Without Borders .
These experiences contribute to the diversity of artistic references present in the school.
The school is notably managed by Rosa Maria Peláez Ríos .
Originally from trampoline gymnastics, she was a Spanish champion in this discipline before turning to circus arts.
Her artistic journey has led her to practice various forms of acrobatics and aerial disciplines.
She is co-founder of the company Circ Los and Escola Circ Los.
This dual sporting and artistic experience contributes to the important place given to trampoline and acrobatics in the school.
The institution also hosts teachers specializing in aerial disciplines.
Their backgrounds combine training in different circus schools and professional experience in the performing arts.
This complementarity allows Escola Circ Los to offer a particularly wide range of technical expertise.
The school also develops activities outside of regular classes.
Escola Circ Los also participates in extracurricular activities.
This presence in the educational world allows circus arts to be introduced to children who do not necessarily attend school regularly.
During the holidays, circus-related workshops and programs can complement the regular schedule.
These periods allow children to practice more intensively while discovering different disciplines.
The circus is then associated with leisure activities and community life.
Escola Circ Los also provides a place where advanced practice can be developed.
The space hosts private lessons and specific training sessions.
Trampolining can be used for individualized training.
The structure can therefore meet the needs of students wishing to delve deeper into a specific technique.
This diversity of formats allows the school to reach a particularly wide audience.
Finally, the proximity of the professional company makes it possible to maintain a constant link with the creation and the performance.
Since 2009, Escola Circ Los has been developing a circus arts transmission project deeply rooted in Baix Montseny .
Its permanent location in Santa Maria de Palautordera offers a space to work on acrobatics and trampoline as well as juggling, balances and aerial disciplines.
The richness of its equipment, the diversity of its team's backgrounds and its membership in socio-educational circus networks make it a place where circus practice can accompany students for many years.
The school thus combines physical development, technical learning, artistic expression, cooperation and the pleasure of practicing, while maintaining a direct link with the professional world of contemporary circus.
