The school is the main project of the Asociación Cultural Volátil, a non-profit cultural association based in Tarifa.

With more than thirteen years of activity , it has become a reference place for the practice and transmission of circus arts in the province of Cádiz.

Education for all ages

Circo Volátil welcomes children, teenagers and adults in regular courses adapted to the age and level of each group.

Even the youngest children can discover the circus from the age of three .

The introductory groups provide a fun first approach to the different families of circus techniques.

  • Juggling helps to develop coordination, concentration and object manipulation.
  • Balance is another important aspect of learning.
  • Floor acrobatics helps develop mobility, coordination and body awareness.
  • Aerial disciplines are addressed in particular through silks and the trapeze.

The children then progress to groups corresponding to their age and experience.

Advanced groups allow teenagers who already have circus experience to further develop their skills.

Artistic creation and performances

Artistic creation gradually takes on more importance as students gain autonomy.

Advanced students can prepare their own acts and present them in front of an audience.

The school organizes cabarets and shows bringing together students and teachers.

These performances allow students to put their learning into practice in a real stage context.

The shows may combine aerial silks, trapeze, aerial hoop, acrobatics, juggling, stilts and various balancing techniques.

Adult education

Adults also receive regular training.

A significant part of this activity is devoted to aerial acrobatics .

The classes combine physical preparation, strength, flexibility and technical work on the apparatus.

Fabrics and the trapezoid occupy a central place.

Practitioners learn figures, sequences and various dynamic movements.

They can also work on creating their own acts.

Several levels allow us to accommodate both beginners and practitioners who already have experience in aerial disciplines.

Family activities, workshops and laboratories

Circo Volátil also develops family circus activities.

They allow children and adults to discover different circus techniques together.

Regular training is supplemented by internships and intensive training courses .

The school invites various artists and specialists for this purpose.

These training courses may cover juggling, ground acrobatics, aerial disciplines or more specific techniques.

Creative workshops are also offered.

They allow experienced artists and practitioners to deepen their relationship with their apparatus, their bodily research and their creative process.

Some of these laboratories are directly intended for professional or trainee circus performers .

A circus as a tool for personal and social transformation

Circo Volátil, however, considers the circus to be much more than a set of physical techniques.

The school explicitly uses circus arts as a tool for personal and social transformation .

Inclusion and social cohesion

Inclusion and social cohesion are among the core values of the project.

The association seeks to remove economic barriers that may prevent some people from participating.

Scholarships and exchange programs are offered to facilitate access for minorities and people who are in situations of or at risk of exclusion.

The diversity of the participants is considered an asset for the group.

Respect and horizontal pedagogy

Respect is another fundamental principle.

The teaching team seeks to create a horizontal, non-judgmental environment in which each student can progress while respecting their differences.

Cooperation and mutual support occupy an essential place in this pedagogy.

Students learn that many circus achievements require trust and mutual support.

Creativity and personal development

Creativity and personal expression are also encouraged.

Each participant can gradually develop their own way of practicing and creating.

The school uses the physical challenges encountered in the circus to work on self-esteem, perseverance and the ability to overcome one's own limits.

Particular attention is also paid to body awareness and well-being .

Actions aimed at schools

Circo Volátil is also developing initiatives aimed at schools.

These projects allow the use of circus arts as an educational tool for children and teenagers in the area.

The school thus participates directly in the dissemination of socio-educational circus beyond its own regular courses.

Networks and professional connections

It is part of the Federación Española de Escuelas de Circo Socio Educativo .

It is also integrated into the professional networks of the Andalusian circus and maintains links with the European youth circus network.

This involvement in different networks allows the team to develop its teaching practices and to participate in discussions about the transmission of circus arts.

A key player in the cultural life of Tarifa

Circo Volátil also plays an active role in the cultural life of Tarifa.

The school collaborates with local events and institutions.

His students regularly present their creations to the public.

The end-of-year shows are an important part of the educational journey.
