Foux Feux Rieux – Chinon's Traveling Circus School

Foux Feux Rieux is a professional company and a travelling circus school based in the Chinon region of Indre-et-Loire. Created in 2003, the association develops a project combining the transmission of circus arts , the creation of shows and cultural interventions in the region.

To allow as many people as possible to discover circus arts, Foux Feux Rieux has chosen a mobile approach. Rather than concentrating all its classes in a single school, the team travels to several towns in the area and uses local municipal halls and sports facilities.

Weekly classes are thus offered in Lémeré , Panzoult and Savigny-en-Véron .

The school welcomes children from the age of 4. Groups are organized according to age, with workshops specifically for 4-7 year olds and 8-12 year olds . A discovery and training session is also offered to teenagers and adults.

The teaching is intentionally multidisciplinary . Participants discover different apparatus and families of circus arts in order to experience several forms of practice before gradually developing their preferences.

Among the disciplines explicitly offered are tightrope walking , balance ball , acrobatics , juggling and stilt walking .

This diversity allows for the simultaneous exploration of physical , technical , and artistic dimensions. The activities are notably used to develop psychomotor skills , creativity , self-awareness , and interpersonal skills .

The teaching approach aims to allow each individual to progress according to their own objectives. The activity is presented as a practice that is simultaneously physical , playful , and artistic .

The itinerant nature of the project is an essential component. By offering its courses directly in several villages, Foux Feux Rieux brings circus arts closer to families living in the rural Chinon area and avoids concentrating cultural offerings solely in the main towns.

The association has a Youth and Popular Education accreditation . It also participates in programs that facilitate young people's access to leisure activities.

Foux Feux Rieux is also a live performance company . The creation and distribution of shows, along with circus classes, constitute one of the association's main activities.

The company develops shows and artistic projects aimed particularly at young audiences and families . It also participates in festivals and cultural events.

These events can be accompanied by workshops introducing circus arts , allowing the public to move from the role of spectator to that of practitioner.

This coexistence between teaching and professional creation allows educational activities to remain directly linked to live performance and the artistic work of the company.
