Or Piste — Circus School

Or Piste is a circus school created in 1998 in Dijon, Côte-d'Or. A member of the French Federation of Circus Schools and FREC Bourgogne , it has been developing circus arts education for children, teenagers and adults for over twenty-five years.

The school is based on a pedagogy in which technical learning accompanies personal and collective development . The diversity of disciplines allows children and teenagers to progress, push their limits, learn to evolve within a group and perform in front of an audience.

Juggling also plays a significant role in the project. In addition to regular classes, Or Piste organizes specialized workshops to discover or refine specific techniques. In 2026 , the school notably offered juggling workshops for beginners and advanced practitioners, as well as a workshop entirely dedicated to diabolo .

Or Piste does not operate like a centralized school in a single facility. Its project relies on several partnerships allowing it to offer workshops in different municipalities and neighborhoods of Dijon Métropole and Côte-d'Or.

This structure allows the school to reach out to practitioners and make circus arts accessible across multiple regions. The programs are designed for different ages and skill levels, from introductory workshops to more advanced courses.

The family aspect is also present. In Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur, Or Piste is offering a parent-child workshop for 4-6 year olds in 2026-2027 . The session uses various circus disciplines to work on the relationship between adult and child while discovering circus practices together.

Teenagers with several years of experience can access advanced training opportunities. The work then consists of deepening one or two chosen techniques and gradually integrating them into a creative process that can lead to one or more performances.

Artistic creation is indeed an important extension of learning. Or Piste supports its students in the creation of individual and group acts and offers them various opportunities to meet the public.

As part of this festival, Or Piste organizes and participates in events dedicated to amateur circus. In April 2026 , the Théâtre Mansart in Dijon hosted an evening bringing together students from various circus schools in the region, allowing them to connect their creations with the festival's professional program.

Or Piste also plays an important role in the federal network. From May 14th to 16th, 2026 , the school hosted the FREC Bourgogne Regional Meetings in Dijon. These gatherings allow practitioners from different schools to meet, exchange ideas, and present their creations, some of which may be selected for the National Meetings organized as part of the CIRCa festival in Auch.

The workshops are another important aspect of the project. Or Piste offers both general workshops introducing circus arts and specialized sessions in juggling, diabolo or acrobatics.

The school is involved in the Dijon Sport Découverte program run by the City of Dijon. During school holidays, children can discover circus arts through workshops organized with the Cercle Laïque Dijonnais.

The project is therefore not limited to learning a series of tricks. Group practice, public performance, creation of acts, meetings with other schools and the discovery of professional circus all play an integral part in the students' learning journey.

Practitioners can thus begin with a playful and multidisciplinary approach, then gradually develop more technical mastery, choose certain specialties and participate in a creative process.

Through its numerous locations, Or Piste now has a reach that extends far beyond the city limits of Dijon. The workshops organized in Chenôve, Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur and Fontaine-Française allow access to circus arts to be extended to different areas of the Côte-d'Or.

After more than twenty-five years of activity, Or Piste has become a major player in amateur circus education in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Its program combines regular practice, discovery, skill development, creation, workshops, events, and meetings with the regional network of circus schools.
