Home Patoche Compagnie — circus school in Salaise-sur-Sanne

Home Patoche Compagnie is a circus school located at 50 rue de la Rebatière in Salaise-sur-Sanne, in the Isère department. Founded by Patrice Huet , nicknamed "Patoche" , it has gradually developed to become a place for teaching circus arts, workshops, meetings and hosting professional artists.

Since the end of 2025 , a new chapter has begun in the school's history. With Patrice Huet's retirement, the management of Home Patoche Compagnie has been taken over by his daughter , Floriane Huet . This family handover allows the project developed in Salaise-sur-Sanne to continue while also evolving the organization and activities of the facility.

Multidisciplinary practice

Home Patoche Compagnie offers a multidisciplinary approach to circus arts accessible to different levels. Students can explore several major circus arts traditions:

  • Acrobatics
  • Juggling
  • Balances on objects
  • Expression
  • Aerial disciplines

This diversity allows beginners to experiment with different techniques before gradually developing their preferences and, for more experienced practitioners, to delve deeper into certain disciplines.

Aerial disciplines feature prominently in the school's equipment and activities. Aerial silks , hoop , trapeze , and rope are among the disciplines practiced at Home Patoche. The facility also allows for complementary physical disciplines and practices focused on flexibility, strength training, and physical conditioning.

Acrobatics is another important aspect of the teaching. It helps develop coordination, muscle tone, mobility, body control, and confidence. It is integrated into a more holistic pedagogy in which students are encouraged to experiment with different forms of practice and gradually develop their autonomy.

Juggling and object balancing complement this multidisciplinary approach. During its outreach programs, Home Patoche offers workshops combining acrobatics, object balancing, juggling, and expressive games. This structure illustrates a vision of circus arts in which technical learning and artistic expression are closely intertwined.

  • Workshops combining acrobatics, object balancing, juggling and expressive games
  • External interventions and activities

Home Patoche Compagnie doesn't limit its activities to weekly classes. The school also organizes workshops during school holidays, offering children and young people more intensive practice. These workshops allow participants to discover circus arts as well as deepen techniques already learned throughout the year.

Introductory days and one-off workshops are also organized in partnership with various local organizations. In July 2026 , for example, Home Patoche hosted a full day of circus arts initiation for children in Salaise-sur-Sanne.

Home Patoche's educational activities extend far beyond the school walls. The organization works in schools, daycare centers, recreation centers, specialized institutions, and with various other groups and communities. These interventions allow them to adapt circus arts to very different audiences, ages, and contexts.

  • School environment
  • Daycare centers
  • Leisure centers
  • Specialized establishments
  • Groups and communities

School partnerships are long-standing and well-established in the region. Home Patoche has supported various schools in setting up circus-themed programs, comprising several sessions and potentially culminating in a performance or presentation for families. Children can work on skills such as acrobatics, balance, and object manipulation.

This ability to work with specialized institutions is also an important element of the project. The organization that now carries on the school's activities explicitly mentions its work with daycare centers, specialized institutions, recreation centers, and other facilities. Circus arts can thus be used as an educational, physical, artistic, and collective tool for very diverse audiences.

Home Patoche also possesses a particularly well-developed professional artistic dimension for an amateur circus school. Over the years, the Salaise-sur-Sanne site has become a true haven for artists and circus companies in residence.

Spaces and residences

The development of workspaces, particularly with the building's renovation, the addition of a dome and an outdoor platform, has strengthened the venue's role as an artist residency. By 2022 , some sixty artists were already working in residence at Home Patoche, appreciating the spaces and equipment available for researching, rehearsing, and developing their shows.

  • Converted building
  • Work dome
  • Outdoor platform
  • Spaces adapted for research and rehearsal

This activity continues today. In 2026, various professional companies still mention Home Patoche as a place of residence, creation or performance.

This close relationship with professionals is a particular asset for students. It allows amateur practice, teaching, internships, and professional creation to coexist in the same space. Young practitioners can develop in an environment where circus arts are not only considered a leisure activity, but also a true artistic language and a profession.

Home Patoche also supports external creative projects. Several companies cite the school as one of their partners or residences. The Salaise-sur-Sanne site thus participates in a network of venues that support circus research and creation.

Creativity is also present in the students' journey. Home Patoche participates in meetings organized by the French Federation of Circus Schools, allowing its young practitioners to meet students from other schools, to follow workshops and to present their creations.

The school was thus present at the Rhône-Alpes 2026 Regional Meetings organized in Voiron. Twelve schools and 163 participants were gathered for this edition, including the students of Home Patoche Compagnie.

The school has a long history of participation in national competitions. Home Patoche has also presented creations at the FFEC National Championships. In 2023 , the school notably presented " Cerflex ," a piece featuring the aerial hoop. This participation demonstrates the importance placed on artistic creation and the presentation of student work.

Recognition and affiliations

The school enjoys clearly established federal recognition. Home Patoche Compagnie is a member of the French Federation of Circus Schools and the FREC Rhône-Alpes.

The transition initiated in 2025 accompanies a new phase of development. Following Patrice Huet's retirement, Floriane Huet took over the management of the business. A new company, Flo Circo Mouv, was simultaneously established with the aim of operating a circus school, organizing weekly classes and holiday workshops, providing programs in schools and various other settings, as well as offering entertainment and performances.

This evolution allows Home Patoche to maintain its activities at its historic site in Salaise-sur-Sanne while preparing for its future. In 2026 , the school will continue its courses, workshops, events, and artistic programs under the direction of the new generation.

Home Patoche Compagnie therefore occupies a special place among the circus schools in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It combines amateur teaching, workshops, external interventions, hosting artists, professional residencies and participation in federal networks.

In Salaise-sur-Sanne, practitioners have a dedicated space for circus arts where they can discover different disciplines, improve their technical skills, and develop their artistic expression. Acrobatics, juggling, balancing acts, and aerial disciplines such as silks, hoop, trapeze, and rope come together in an environment designed to facilitate both learning and creation.

The school also maintains a strong connection with its local community. Interventions in schools, leisure centers, and specialized facilities allow circus arts to reach a much wider audience than just students enrolled in regular classes.

With its FFEC accreditation, its membership in FREC Rhône-Alpes, its teaching experience, its practice spaces and its capacity to host professional artists, Home Patoche Compagnie is today in Salaise-sur-Sanne a place where transmission, amateur practice and contemporary circus creation meet.
