Dansinitiativet is an artistic center dedicated to contemporary dance and circus, located in Luleå, in the Norrbotten region of northern Sweden.
Founded in 2017, this independent organization develops shows, artistic residencies and educational activities for different audiences.
In particular, it offers introductory circus arts courses for children aged 7 to 12.

A circus discovery school for children
Dansinitiativet organizes introductory circus arts courses for children.
In spring 2026, two weekly groups were offered for young people aged 7 to 9 and 10 to 12 .
These courses allowed participants to discover different circus disciplines in an encouraging and fun environment.
No prior experience was necessary.
A pedagogy based on movement and creativity
The teaching emphasizes the discovery of the body's possibilities, the pleasure of movement, and the learning of new techniques.
Children are encouraged to develop their creativity , confidence , and ability to work with others.
The exercises also allow one to discover the artistic dimension of circus disciplines.

In spring 2026, the teaching team included Ellinor Eriksson , Isabella Larsson and Lina Börlin .
Guest artists also participated in some sessions, allowing children to meet different professionals from the contemporary circus world.

The RIGGEN project
Dansinitiativet is also developing RIGGEN , a project dedicated to the development of contemporary circus in the Norrbotten region.
This initiative aims to strengthen the presence of the circus in northern Sweden.
It includes shows , residencies , workshops and educational activities allowing children and teenagers to discover the circus arts.
A presence throughout the region
Although based in Luleå, the organization also operates in various municipalities in Norrbotten.
It develops collaborations with schools , cultural associations and artistic partners .
This activity helps to make contemporary circus accessible to audiences far from major cultural centers.
Course organization
The spring 2026 courses were held every Tuesday at Furuparksskolan , in Luleå.
Two groups were offered, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for 7–9 year olds and from 6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. for 10–12 year olds.
Participation was free , with a limited number of places.
