Kabolo Mozgásművészeti Műhely is a Hungarian organization specializing in teaching circus arts and acrobatic disciplines, located in Budapest. Founded in 2010 , it develops a pedagogical approach combining traditional circus techniques, physical conditioning, sports practice, and artistic expression.

The school offers courses in aerial acrobatics , ground acrobatics , juggling , and balance . Its instruction caters to a diverse range of students, from beginners wishing to explore circus arts to experienced practitioners preparing for competitions or pursuing a more advanced artistic career.

Kabolo stands out for its historical link with the professional training of circus artists in Hungary, as well as for the experience of its teaching team, composed of former artists and specialized teachers.

A structure founded in 2010 to develop circus arts education

Kabolo Mozgásművészeti Műhely began its activities in 2010 with the aim of promoting the teaching of circus arts in Hungary, both in a professional, sporting and recreational context.

From its inception, the organization has participated in the development of training programs organized in partnership with educational institutions.

In 2010 , she collaborated with the Talentum school in Tata to establish a training program for circus arts. This initiative helped to develop circus education outside of Budapest.

In 2012 , Kabolo participated in the opening of another professional training program within the TANEXT Academy in Budapest.

These collaborations allow young artists to benefit from structured training and prepare for their entry into the professional world of entertainment.

Many graduates of these programs then pursue their careers in the international circus arts scene.

In 2019 , Kabolo took another step forward by opening his own training facility in Budapest: ATTRAKTÁR .

This new space allows for the direct development of introductory, recreational, advanced and sports training activities.

From 2022 onwards, the institution is strengthening its support for practitioners wishing to participate in aerial acrobatics competitions.

In 2023 , several students achieved remarkable results in Hungarian competitions, particularly in the disciplines of aerial silks and trapeze .

This evolution accompanies the development of more advanced training programs, geared towards competitive practice and the demands of the circus artist profession.

ATTRAKTÁR, a training space dedicated to circus arts

The school has its own practice space, called ATTRAKTÁR , located in the Pestszentlőrinc district, in the eighteenth district of Budapest.

Located within the Reviczky Udvar , this space hosts regular classes, training sessions, workshops and activities to discover circus disciplines.

The center is designed to allow the practice of several families of apparatus and techniques, both on the ground and in suspension.

Students can discover aerial acrobatics, work on their acrobatic movements, practice juggling and develop their balance skills.

The diversity of disciplines offered allows for the construction of a progressive and complementary learning experience, in which the different techniques contribute to the development of physical and artistic abilities.

The center also hosts private events, birthdays and entertainment for groups.

Aerial acrobatics, an important specialty of Kabolo

Aerial disciplines occupy a central place in Kabolo's teaching.

Students can practice aerial silks , trapeze and rope .

Aerial silks allows you to learn techniques of suspension, climbing, wrapping and performing acrobatic figures on long strips of fabric.

The teaching begins with the fundamental positions and climbing techniques, before progressing to more complex combinations.

Students gradually develop their muscular strength, flexibility, coordination, and body control in space.

The trapeze allows you to discover acrobatic techniques performed on a suspended apparatus, combining static positions, suspensions and sequences of movements.

The practice requires precise work on body positioning, coordination and muscle strengthening.

Aerial rope is another discipline that allows exploration of suspension, climbing and body control techniques.

All of these practices are addressed at different levels, from discovery to preparation for competitions.

A structured progression in several levels

Kabolo offers an educational organization that allows students to progress according to their abilities and objectives.

In aerial disciplines, several levels are distinguished: beginner , intermediate , advanced and competition .

The beginner level allows you to acquire the basics of the practice, including the first hangs, climbing techniques and fundamental positions.

The intermediate level corresponds to a greater mastery of movements. Students must, in particular, be able to climb onto the fabric using correct technique and to perform certain exercises without constant assistance.

The advanced level allows you to work on more complex sequences, with greater autonomy in executing the figures.

The competition level introduces additional technical and physical requirements, including suspension exercises, timed sequences, and strength tests.

This progression allows learning to be adapted to the actual level of the practitioners, rather than solely to their age.

For younger children, integration into certain courses depends on a prior assessment of their abilities.

Ground acrobatics and acrobatic lifts

In addition to aerial disciplines, Kabolo offers instruction in ground acrobatics .

Students discover the fundamental movements of acrobatic gymnastics, including rolls, cartwheels, hand balances and inversions.

The courses also allow students to explore acrobatics in pairs and in groups, with work dedicated to lifts and coordination between partners.

Learning is based on the development of strength, flexibility, stability, and body awareness.

The exercises are adapted to different levels of practice.

Beginners learn the fundamental positions and safety principles, while advanced students delve deeper into technical movements and acrobatic combinations.

Acrobatics in pairs and groups also introduces an important collective dimension, encouraging communication, trust and cooperation among participants.

Juggling and manipulation techniques

Kabolo also offers juggling classes for beginners and recreational practitioners.

Participants can discover several traditional circus arts props, including balls, rings, clubs, and Chinese plates.

The teaching allows one to learn the basics of object manipulation, throwing and catching techniques as well as the first sequences.

Juggling develops hand-eye coordination, concentration, precision, and a sense of rhythm.

It is also a particularly interesting discipline for developing perseverance and autonomy.

Students gradually discover how to break down movements, repeat exercises, and build increasingly elaborate combinations.

Kabolo's approach prioritizes the pleasure of success and the gradual discovery of the possibilities offered by the different accessories.

The balance disciplines

The school also offers activities dedicated to balance techniques.

The disciplines presented include, in particular , tightrope walking , balance roller and hand balancing .

The taut wire allows you to work on stability, coordination and posture control when moving on a narrow support.

The balance roller , also called rola-bola, is based on the constant search for stability on a board placed on a cylinder.

Handstands develop strength, core stability, coordination, and control of inverted positions.

These disciplines are offered at different levels and allow participants to develop skills complementary to ground acrobatics and aerial practices.

A teaching team drawn from the professional circus

One of Kabolo's main strengths lies in the experience of its teaching team.

The structure was founded by Ildikó Murai-Szakáts , a circus artist, teacher and specialist in professional circus training in Hungary.

A graduate of the Hungarian National Institute of Circus Arts in 1978 , she began her career as an acrobat before specializing in roller balancing.

She became a teacher at the institute in 1984 , then deputy director in 1986 .

From 1989 to 2007 , she directed this historic training establishment for circus artists.

Alongside her artistic experience, she obtained several teaching qualifications, particularly in the fields of teaching and physical education.

She also participates in the development of vocational training programs and standards for circus professions in Hungary.

From 2010 , she contributed to the development of circus training programs at Talentum in Tata, and then at the TANEXT Academy in Budapest.

She then returned to the directorship of the national institute for the training of circus artists in 2015 , a position she held until her retirement in 2020 .

His career thus combines a long experience in artistic practice, teaching and the organization of professional training.

Beáta Ivu-Murai, an international acrobatic experience

The team also includes Beáta Ivu-Murai , a circus artist and special education teacher.

She began her sporting career with artistic gymnastics, which she practiced for thirteen years.

She notably became Hungarian champion in a jumping discipline and represented her country at the 2001 World Gymnastics Championships in Ghent.

After obtaining her circus artist diploma, she pursued a fourteen-year professional career in several European countries.

She works in Hungary, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, among other places.

For more than ten years, she performed with the American Circus in Italy, a large traveling circus with three rings.

Her artistic experience covers many disciplines, including trampoline, Russian bar, equestrian acrobatics, aerial silks, hoop, lifts and group acts.

She also developed a hand-to-hand act with her sister Noémi, under the name the Murai Sisters .

This experience allows him to pass on technical skills from many specialties within the professional circus.

Noémi Murai, specialist in aerial disciplines

Noémi Murai is also a circus artist and teacher at Kabolo.

She began her training with nine years of artistic gymnastics and won a Hungarian championship title on the balance beam in her age category.

At sixteen, she joined the Hungarian National Institute of Circus Arts, where she specialized in aerial disciplines.

She graduated in 2006 .

Her professional career began in aerial acrobatics, before she developed a hand-to-hand act with her sister Beata.

She also practices aerial straps in pairs, aerial silks, hand balances and various forms of suspended acrobatics.

His career includes participation in shows at the Grand Circus of Budapest , theatrical productions, and international events.

She has been involved for several years in various Hungarian circus training establishments, notably the Baross Imre Academy .

His experience brings to Kabolo specialized expertise in teaching aerial disciplines and acrobatics.

Circus workshops for children and teenagers

Kabolo regularly organizes training courses during school holidays.

These programs allow children and teenagers to discover several circus disciplines in a more intensive and playful format than weekly classes.

The summer 2026 internships were organized over several weeks, between the end of June and the end of July.

The activities included aerial acrobatics, ground acrobatics, juggling, and balancing acts.

Participants alternated between technical sessions, team games, obstacle courses and periods of supervised free practice.

The objective was to offer a varied introduction to circus arts, while encouraging motor development, creativity and interaction between children.

The groups were limited to twenty-five participants per week .

Kabolo also offered a specific training course for advanced practitioners and competitors in aerial acrobatics.

This program allowed for the development of techniques, the strengthening of physical capabilities, and preparation for the demands of competitive practice.

Circus-themed entertainment and discovery activities

In addition to its teaching activities, Kabolo organizes events and activities around circus arts.

The establishment offers, among other things, birthday parties, group meetings and activities for children.

These events can take the form of discovery workshops allowing participants to try out different accessories and equipment.

Activities include aerial acrobatics, balance exercises, acrobatic techniques and juggling.

Kabolo also intervenes outside its premises, particularly during school events, events organized in kindergartens and meetings intended for children.

These activities help to introduce circus arts to an audience that does not necessarily attend regular classes.

They also allow the diversity of circus disciplines to be presented in an accessible and fun setting.

An organization committed to the development of aerial acrobatics

Kabolo's evolution is also part of the development of sporting and competitive practices in aerial disciplines in Hungary.

In December 2021 , several teachers from the structure participated in the creation of the sports and artistic association Dr. Szakáts Ödön Légtorna SE .

This association is named after Dr. Szakáts Ödön , an important figure in the history of Hungarian gymnastics and circus teaching.

Born in 1904 , he devoted a large part of his career to teaching physical education and acrobatic disciplines.

He taught for twenty-eight years at the Hungarian National Institute of Circus Arts, including twenty years as deputy director.

His work contributes to the training of many generations of artists and to the development of specialized teaching methods.

The association that bears his name wishes to extend this legacy by developing the teaching of aerial disciplines and movement.

This initiative demonstrates Kabolo's desire to combine the tradition of Hungarian circus training with new forms of sporting and artistic practice.

An approach combining leisure, sport and artistic training

Kabolo Mozgásművészeti Műhely develops a concept of circus teaching that is based on the complementarity between several objectives.

  • For beginners , the school provides a space for discovery, allowing them to learn about different circus disciplines.
  • For regular practitioners , it offers technical support to deepen skills and progress towards more complex figures.
  • For students wishing to participate in competitions , it develops a more demanding teaching, combining physical preparation and technical mastery.
  • Finally, his experience in vocational training allows certain paths to be placed in a deeper artistic perspective.

This diversity of possibilities is one of the structure's distinctive features.

Participants can move within an environment where leisure activities, sports, and performing arts meet.

An important school in the circus scene of Budapest

Since its creation in 2010 , Kabolo has contributed to the development and transmission of circus arts in Hungary.

Its history is closely linked to that of several major vocational training institutions, including Talentum , TANEXT Academy and the Baross Imre Academy .

The opening of ATTRAKTÁR in 2019 allowed it to develop an independent teaching space, dedicated to the discovery and improvement of circus disciplines.

Thanks to the experience of its founder and teachers, the school combines traditional Hungarian circus skills with contemporary aerial acrobatics practices.

By offering regular classes, workshops, specialized training and introductory activities, Kabolo helps to make circus arts accessible to different audiences.

The establishment thus constitutes an interesting structure for people wishing to discover juggling, acrobatics, balancing or aerial disciplines in Budapest, but also for practitioners wishing to develop a more advanced practice.
