Ki omOs Kineitai – Training and creation in contemporary circus in Athens

Ki omOs Kineitai (κι όμΩς κινείται) is a Greek artistic company and training structure specializing in contemporary circus arts, dance, and performance. Founded in 2003 by dancer and choreographer Christina Sougioultzi and circus artist Camilo Bentancor , it develops a multidisciplinary artistic approach combining physical research , acrobatic techniques, and stage creation.

Located in the ROES Theater , in the Gazi district of Athens, the structure has a space dedicated to performances, teaching, rehearsals and artistic encounters.

Circus and dance classes for different levels

Ki omOs Kineitai offers a program of courses open to amateur , semi-professional , and professional practitioners. The teaching combines contemporary circus techniques with dance and movement practices.

The disciplines explored include, in particular, ground acrobatics , aerial acrobatics , juggling , clowning techniques , contemporary dance and body expression .

The courses are led by specialist artists and teachers, trained in professional circus, dance, theatre or gymnastics schools, in Greece and abroad.

The teaching approach prioritizes the development of technical skills while encouraging creativity , exploration of movement , and the construction of a personal artistic language .

Professional training courses, internships and masterclasses

The organization also develops training programs for artists wishing to deepen their knowledge and enrich their professional practice.

Masterclasses and specialized seminars are organized with Greek and international speakers. These gatherings allow participants to explore different circus techniques, experiment with new creative methods, and foster exchanges between artists.

The objective is to support the technical and artistic development of the participants while facilitating their integration into the professional networks of contemporary circus.

Ki omOs Kineitai LABoratorio: from training to creation

The LABoratorio constitutes a specific component of the Ki omOs Kineitai educational project.

Designed as a program combining training and creation , it is aimed primarily at graduates of dance or theatre schools as well as artists already possessing solid technical mastery in a contemporary circus discipline.

The program is based on regular participation in courses and seminars, with the aim of developing the skills of the selected artists and supporting them in a collective creative process.

The work may culminate in the production of an end-of-year show , directed by members of the company and guest choreographers or directors.

This approach seeks to establish a direct link between technical learning , artistic research and stage experience .

A space for research and artistic residencies

Beyond teaching, Ki omOs Kineitai develops a meeting space for artists of circus, dance and performing arts.

The ROES Theater hosts creative projects, rehearsals, professional exchanges, and artistic research initiatives. The venue encourages interdisciplinary collaborations and encounters with Greek and international artists.

This activity contributes to the development of contemporary circus in Greece and to the circulation of artistic practices between different professional communities.

A unique artistic identity

Since its creation, Ki omOs Kineitai has been developing shows that blend dance , acrobatics , physical theatre , music and performance .

Her work is based on the use of the body as the main means of expression and on the exploration of the possibilities offered by the stage space .

Circus techniques are integrated into choreographic and dramaturgical research, in which physical virtuosity is put at the service of artistic expression.

The company places particular importance on the identity of each performer and on the collective construction of the shows.

An actor in circus training in Greece

Through its association between teaching , research and creation , Ki omOs Kineitai occupies an original place in the Greek landscape of circus arts.

Its activities are aimed at both people wishing to discover circus techniques and artists engaged in a professional development path.

The structure thus constitutes a place for transmission , experimentation and artistic development , promoting connections between contemporary circus, dance and live performance.
