The Voiron Youth and Culture Centre Circus School is an amateur circus arts school located in Voiron, in the Isère department. It is part of the Voiron Youth and Culture Centre , a popular education association that develops educational, social, cultural and civic activities around doing things together , learning by doing and access to culture.
For the 2026-2027 season, the school welcomes children and teenagers aged 3 to 17. The workshops take place in a dedicated space on the ground floor of the Maison des Associations , 6 place Stalingrad in Voiron.
The teaching method emphasizes a playful and progressive introduction to circus arts. The sessions allow children and teenagers to experiment with different circus techniques while learning to better understand their bodies and master them in various situations.
The goal is not just to acquire technical skills. The MJC presents circus arts as an activity allowing everyone to express themselves , discover their psychomotor potential and practice in an environment based on relaxation, conviviality and exchange .
This approach perfectly aligns with the community education project championed by the Voiron Youth and Culture Center (MJC). The activity must remain accessible to children with diverse abilities, experiences, and personalities. The group setting then becomes a space for learning, discovery, and self-expression.
The 2026-2027 program is organized by age groups. A new group welcomes 3-5 year olds, while children and teenagers then continue in separate groups.
The sessions gradually last from one hour to one and a half hours depending on age.
The program is advertised as an introduction to all circus techniques. The school's public performances showcase juggling , acrobatics , and bolas . Other apparatus may be used during workshops, but the current schedule does not provide a detailed enough list to definitively assign each specialty to the 2026-2027 season.
The school does not operate in isolation from the other cultural activities of the MJC. The young circus performers participate in creation and presentation projects that allow them to move from technical learning to an artistic experience in front of an audience.
The collective and interdisciplinary dimension was particularly highlighted through Circus Harmony , a project bringing together the Union Musicale Voironnaise and the school's circus performers. Students can thus encounter other artistic practices and experiment with creations blending circus and music.
The students are also involved in the Émotions de Rue festival, a major event dedicated to the performing arts organized by the MJC of Voiron. In 2026, the event celebrated its 34th edition and offered circus, theatre, clowning, music, contemporary dance, hip-hop and amateur performances in public spaces.
The school's participation in this festival allows young people to practice and present their work in a genuine cultural context. In recent years, the circus performers from the MJC have also offered the public introductory workshops in juggling , acrobatics , and bolas .
Collective creation thus holds a clearly identifiable place in the students' journey. In 2026, a show featuring the talents of the MJC notably allowed the young circus performers to present on stage the work carried out during the year, under the guidance of Marion from Agrès du Vent .
This relationship between amateur teaching, creation, and professional programming is a key focus of the school. Students don't just attend technical classes; they are part of a community center that programs shows, organizes cultural events, and fosters connections between amateurs and professionals.
The school is also part of the network of the French Federation of Circus Schools (FFEC). It is accredited by the FFEC and is a member of the Rhône-Alpes Regional Federation of Circus Schools.
This federal involvement is active. The Voiron Youth and Culture Center (MJC) participates in regional meetings between schools and was also present at the FFEC 2025 National Meetings in Auch. On this occasion, it presented the creation "Dynamics of a System Under Tension" .
These meetings give young practitioners the opportunity to discover the creations of other schools, to participate in joint workshops and to meet more broadly the French network of circus arts.
For the 2026-2027 season, classes are taught by Marion Judes . The schedules for each group are as follows:

The MJC's pricing policy aims to take families' resources into account. Fees for children's activities are adjusted according to family income, and registration for circus activities also includes a specific membership fee linked to the French Federation of Circus Schools.
The MJC de Voiron Circus School is thus an amateur school that is particularly well integrated into local cultural life. Its project combines technical training , psychomotor development , personal expression , group practice , creation and discovery of live performance .
Its affiliation with a community center also allows it to create connections with other artistic disciplines and to participate in events like Émotions de Rue . The school thus offers children and teenagers in Voiron a path that ranges from their first discovery of the circus as young as 3 years old to collective projects and regional or national encounters with other circus schools.
