The Maison Populaire de Montreuil offers circus arts workshops for children and teenagers aged 6 to 16, from beginner to advanced levels. Acrobatics, juggling, tightrope walking, balance ball, rollers, unicycle, fixed trapeze, rope, and clowning allow participants to discover and explore the different branches of circus arts, combining physical dexterity and artistic expression.
The Maison Populaire de Montreuil offers regular circus arts workshops for children and teenagers aged 4 to 16. These workshops are part of the broader project of this community education association dedicated to physical, scientific, technical, and artistic practices.
Learning is organized progressively according to the age and experience of the participants. A specific introductory course is offered for children aged 4 to 6, followed by several groups allowing them to continue practicing:
The workshops offer a diverse introduction to circus arts. Participants work on acrobatics and juggling , as well as numerous balance disciplines, including tightrope walking , balance ball , eccentric rollers , and unicycle . Aerial disciplines are represented by the static trapeze and rope . Clowning complements the practice by introducing an element of expression and play.
For children aged 4 to 6, the approach is primarily playful . The sessions allow them to discover the ball , the tightrope , the trapeze , pedal trampolines , acrobatics , and juggling without immediately focusing on technical skill. The goal is to allow children to gradually become aware of their bodies, experiment with the equipment, learn to interact with others, and gain confidence.
From the age of 6, the teaching gradually becomes more technical while retaining a significant artistic dimension. La Maison Populaire presents circus arts as a comprehensive activity combining physical dexterity and artistic expression .
The progression over several levels allows children who wish to do so to practice circus arts for several years within the same structure, from a first discovery at age 4 to the confirmed group intended for teenagers aged 13 to 16.
For the 2026-2027 season, workshops are led by Adèle Toussaint and Thomas Simatic for groups aged 6 and up. The introductory session for 4-6 year olds is led by Grace Brechemier and Rose Dreyfuss .
Through this progressive offering, the Maison Populaire de Montreuil thus offers a genuine amateur practice of circus arts, allowing children and teenagers to develop their physical abilities, their balance, their coordination and their artistic expression while discovering a wide variety of circus techniques.
