Passing is the circus school in Tarbes, located at 10 boulevard Pierre Renaudet in the Hautes-Pyrénées. A member of the FREC Midi-Pyrénées , it develops a particularly broad project around the discovery, learning and transmission of circus arts.
Based in Tarbes, the school welcomes practitioners of all ages and conducts activities at the departmental level.
The school welcomes participants of all ages. Discovery begins as early as 18 months with Baby Circus, then continues with parent-child workshops and groups gradually organized according to age and skill level. Children, teenagers, and adults can thus progress from a playful introduction to regular practice and, for those who wish , to more specialized workshops.
The 2026-2027 season particularly illustrates this diversity. In addition to multidisciplinary workshops, there are specialization courses in aerial disciplines for teenagers and adults, a specific acrobatics workshop from age 9 , an acrobatic lifts course for adults, as well as opportunities for free training .
Passing does not limit its activities to its Tarbes location. Regular workshops are also offered in Montgaillard and Vic-en-Bigorre. More broadly, the association presents itself as a circus school with a departmental focus and develops partnerships with municipalities, associations, and educational, sports, social, and cultural stakeholders in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
The workshops are another important part of the project. Organized during each school holiday period, they welcome children from the age of 4. Some sessions offer a multidisciplinary introduction, while others focus on a specific theme or skill development.
The school also offers family circus experiences. These days allow children and adults to practice juggling, balancing on objects, acrobatic lifts and various circus activities together in a friendly and intergenerational approach.
Early childhood plays a significant role in the project. In addition to classes offered for children as young as 18 months , Passing also works in childcare facilities. The team adapts the sessions to the motor development and abilities of each group, using circus arts as a space for exploration, interaction, and enjoyment.
Arts and cultural education is also a major focus. In partnership with the French Ministry of Education, Passing works with students from preschool through high school. Projects can take place directly in schools, in a gymnasium, or at the circus school's facilities.
These learning paths are developed in collaboration with teachers and can range from simple awareness-raising activities to the creation of a final project presentation. The subjects are selected based on the age of the participants and the educational objectives.
Passing also develops a significant program of adapted circus arts. The school creates projects with specialized institutions and welcomes individuals with special needs. These activities can address educational, therapeutic, or rehabilitative objectives: circus arts are then used to serve the individual rather than simply as a pursuit of performance.
The school is also involved in RECEO , a network dedicated to the development of adapted circus arts in Occitanie. It has notably hosted training courses on these practices and continues to offer programs for teenagers and adults.
Training is another aspect of its activity. Passing offers circus arts training and also hosts professional events for the national network. In July 2026, the school in Tarbes notably hosted a continuing education session organized by the French Federation of Circus Schools.
Passing also develops a genuine events activity. The association can organize amateur or professional shows, entertainment, street performances and mini-circuses, either in its own premises or directly at its partners' locations.
Its flagship event is BarakaCirq . Organized around the school, this event brings together members, families, local residents, artists, and those simply curious about circus arts. Shows, workshops, and activities all contribute to creating a meeting point between amateur practice and live performance.
In September 2026, Passing also organised a new "Open air Circus" in Tarbes, with shows and circus offerings allowing the public to discover the world of the school.
All of these activities make Passing much more than just a place for weekly classes. The association operates throughout Tarbes and the Hautes-Pyrénées region in the following areas:
His teaching approach aims to allow everyone to discover with curiosity, learn with pleasure, and progress in an environment adapted to their age and level. Circus practice thus becomes a means to develop confidence , autonomy , perseverance , creativity , cooperation , and the joy of doing things together .
From the 18-month-old child discovering Baby Circus to the adult working on acrobatic lifts, from the student participating in a school project to the person being supported in a specialized establishment, Passing advocates a practice of circus arts open to all and deeply rooted in its territory.
