Projektornia GAK – Circus Encounters in Gdańsk

Projektornia is a municipal cultural center located in the Brzeźno district of Gdańsk, on the Polish Baltic coast. It belongs to the Gdański Archipelag Kultury (GAK) network, which develops artistic, educational, and social activities in different districts of the city.

Among its initiatives is Otwarte Spotkania Cyrkowe , an open meeting program dedicated to contemporary circus arts.

A cultural venue open to all

Projektornia develops projects in which residents are not only spectators, but also become participants and creators .

The center hosts artistic workshops, residencies, meetings, and interdisciplinary projects. It also carries out activities involving people with disabilities.

This participatory approach forms the framework within which circus activities take place.

Regular meetings about the circus

In 2026, Projektornia presents the Otwarte Spotkania Cyrkowe , programmed from March to December .

These meetings offer people interested in circus arts a space to discover practices, exchange knowledge and train collectively.

Juggling and object manipulation occupy a visible place in the presentation of these activities.

Unlike a school with an annual curriculum by levels, the project is based on a formula of open meetings .

The discovery of movement and juggling

The circus gatherings invite participants to observe, experiment and share different techniques.

Object manipulation and body coordination allow us to approach the circus from an accessible and creative angle.

Exchanges between practitioners promote informal learning and the discovery of new movement possibilities.

A link with contemporary circus

Projektornia also participates in the dissemination of contemporary circus through artistic events.

The shows and workshops allow the public to meet artists and discover forms of creation combining technique, movement and stage expression.

The center thus contributes to making circus arts visible in the cultural life of Gdańsk.

Events open to the public

In addition to regular meetings, Projektornia hosts events dedicated to the circus.

These events can combine performances, participatory workshops and open stages allowing artists to present their work.

They provide opportunities for encounters between practitioners, artists and residents.

A social and intergenerational dimension

Projektornia's philosophy is based on the participation of residents and the development of exchanges.

Circus activities fit into this approach by promoting a collective and accessible practice.

The circus thus becomes a means of meeting and creation shared by people with different experiences and backgrounds.

A practice space rather than a specialized school

Projektornia does not offer, in the information currently available, a complete circus training program comparable to that of a traditional circus school.

Its interest lies more in the organization of regular meetings and artistic events .

Projektornia GAK is a place for the discovery and collective practice of contemporary circus in Gdańsk. Its program of open meetings allows for the development of exchanges between practitioners and for the circus arts to thrive within a neighborhood cultural center.
