The Staromiejskie Centrum Kultury Młodzieży (SCKM) is an arts education institution located in Krakow, Poland. It welcomes children and teenagers in various cultural disciplines, including theatre, dance, music, visual arts and circus arts.
His circus program combines juggling, balance, object manipulation, acrobatics, and artistic creation. It is aimed at several age groups and allows for a progressive discovery of contemporary circus techniques.
SCKM offers several circus activities adapted to the age of the participants.
The Cyrko-polo program, intended for children and teenagers aged 7 to 15 , is supervised by Tadeusz Dylawerski.
Young people aged 14 to 18 can participate in circus workshops led by Aleksandra Barczyk. These sessions combine regular training with the exploration of different circus techniques.
The center also offers acrobatic and circus gymnastics classes for children from 7 years old , under the direction of Janusz Głowacz.
Juggling plays an important role in the activities offered.
Participants discover, among other things, scarves, balls, rings and clubs. They can also try their hand at diabolo, Chinese plates and devil sticks.
The exercises help to develop coordination , concentration and precision of movements .
The workshops encourage experimentation and the gradual learning of figures, without requiring prior skills.
Circus activities also include balance and acrobatics exercises.
Participants can discover stilts, unicycle, rola-bola, balance ball and slackline in specialized workshops.
Aerial acrobatics is also part of the program, particularly through the discovery of aerial silks.
Acrobatic gymnastics classes help develop the physical qualities needed for circus disciplines, such as strength , mobility and body control .
The teaching emphasizes the discovery of techniques and individual progress.
Participants are encouraged to try different accessories, understand the movements and develop their own skills.
Group practice also promotes mutual support , listening , and creativity .
This approach allows us to discover the circus both as a physical activity and as a form of artistic expression.
In addition to the annual courses, the SCKM organizes meetings dedicated to certain disciplines.
The CYRK od podstaw cycle, dedicated to the basics of circus, allows teenagers and students to discover different techniques during monthly workshops.
Each session focuses on a particular theme: juggling, object manipulation, balance or aerial acrobatics.
This formula allows you to participate occasionally or to follow several workshops to progressively deepen your practice.
The centre also organises circus and acrobatics courses during school holidays.
These activities allow children to discover juggling, circus props and acrobatic exercises through games and group workshops.
The internships combine the development of physical abilities , creativity and cooperation .
SCKM's activities also include public presentations.
In June 2026 , the acrobatics and circus groups participated in an end-of-year show presenting their work.
These projects allow students to discover the stage, share their learning, and develop their artistic expression.
SCKM is not a school exclusively dedicated to the circus. Its originality lies in the integration of circus practices into a broader program of artistic education.
Proximity to theatre, dance and other creative disciplines allows young people to discover different forms of expression.
Thanks to its regular courses, specialized workshops and stage projects, the Staromiejskie Centrum Kultury Młodzieży provides a place for children and teenagers in Krakow to learn circus arts.
