Des Étoiles dans les Yeux is a non-profit circus and theatre school located in Ixelles , in the Brussels-Capital Region. For many years, it has offered a multidisciplinary approach to circus arts, combining technical training, artistic expression, physical exploration and collective creation.

The association primarily welcomes children and teenagers , with activities accessible from the age of three . It aims to offer each participant a space for experimentation where movement, imagination, and creativity can develop in a playful and respectful atmosphere.

One of the school's distinctive features lies in the close link it establishes between circus techniques and the performing arts.

Circummotor skills for the youngest children

For younger children, Des Étoiles dans les Yeux offers circus-based motor skills workshops that combine the principles of psychomotor skills with the world of the circus. Children gradually learn to discover their bodies and orient themselves in space through exercises adapted to their development.

Jumping, rolling, balancing, manipulating objects, moving around and exploring different forms of movement form the basis of this first approach.

Circummotor skills also help to develop interactions with other children, self-confidence , respect for equipment and basic safety rules.

Circus techniques from age six

From the age of six , students can join workshops more directly focused on circus techniques and theatrical expression.

Juggling plays an important role in the teaching. Participants learn, in particular, how to manipulate scarves, balls, rings, diabolos, plates, clubs and bolas.

Balance techniques are also represented through various apparatus, including the cable, the balance ball, stilts, the unicycle and the rola-bola.

Ground acrobatics and partner acrobatics complement this multidisciplinary training and allow children to develop their coordination, strength, flexibility and body awareness.

Trapeze (from age ten)

The school also offers specific trapeze instruction, accessible from the age of ten .

Trapeze workshops allow participants to gradually become comfortable with heights, develop aerial ease, and learn various basic moves. The training combines physical preparation, body positioning, technique, and creative exploration.

Theatre, an essential dimension

The other essential dimension of the educational project is theatre .

Children and teenagers can experience stage play, clowning and improvisation, in addition to circus skills training.

This association between circus and theatre allows them to consider techniques not only as physical exercises, but also as tools for artistic expression.

Imagination, spontaneity, gesture, voice and relationship with others thus become important elements of learning.

Participants are encouraged to develop their own way of expressing themselves, to take initiatives and to gradually find their place within the group.

A teaching method adapted to each individual

The teaching is based on a pedagogy adapted to each student's age and level. Discovery remains possible at any time, while more experienced students can delve deeper into the techniques that particularly interest them.

The school organizes regular workshops during the school year, mainly on Saturdays , with different groups for circus arts, circus, theatre and trapeze.

For the 2026-2027 season, activities resumed on September 12, 2026 and continue until June 2027 .

Des Étoiles dans les Yeux also offers workshops during school holidays. These workshops allow participants to discover several disciplines or to dedicate more time to certain practices.

Entertainment for groups and events

In addition to courses for individuals, the association organizes various activities adapted to the needs of groups, companies and event organizers.

It can be used in particular for parties, birthdays or events wishing to offer an introduction to circus arts.

The association relies on specialist speakers and advocates a teaching approach where the pleasure of practice , kindness and mutual respect occupy a central place.

By combining circus skills, juggling, balances, acrobatics, trapeze, theatre and clowning, Des Étoiles dans les Yeux offers a genuine amateur artistic training , allowing young people to discover both the technical and creative dimensions of circus arts.

Its permanent presence in Ixelles and its annual program make it a local reference structure for families wishing to discover circus and theatre in an associative setting.
