Symmoria tou Iliou – Juggling and artistic expression workshops in Athens

Symmoria tou Iliou (Συμμορία του ωλιου) is an arts education and creative expression center located in the Ano Petralona neighborhood of Athens, Greece. Founded in September 2012 by Melina Skoufou , a director and artistic workshop facilitator, the center offers activities for children and adults, combining theater, movement, creativity, and the discovery of circus arts.

The center develops an educational approach based on experimentation , play and active participation . Among its activities are regular juggling workshops for children , led by a professional circus artist.

Juggling workshops adapted for children

The juggling classes welcome children aged 5 to 13 , divided into two age groups in order to offer learning adapted to their development.

The sessions offer an introduction to juggling techniques and dexterity games through progressive exercises, individual challenges, and fun activities. Participants learn to manipulate objects, coordinate their movements, and develop their body control.

Beyond technical learning, the workshops promote concentration , balance , spatial awareness, patience, and perseverance. Each child can progress at their own pace, experiment with new skills, and gain confidence through successive successes.

The pedagogy places great importance on the pleasure of practice , creativity and personal expression .

The teaching was provided by Pepe Peperonius

The juggling workshops are led by Pepe Peperonius , a circus artist and trainer specializing in circus techniques since 2004.

His experience includes skill games, acrobatics, and soap bubble shows. He has presented shows and led workshops in several countries, particularly in summer schools and educational activities.

Her background also includes experience supporting people with disabilities.

His teaching combines the discovery of circus techniques with the development of children's physical , cognitive and creative abilities.

A multidisciplinary artistic program

Symmoria tou Iliou is not limited to circus arts. The center also organizes workshops in theatre, improvisation, body expression, music and movement, as well as various creative activities.

These complementary disciplines allow participants to explore several forms of artistic expression and to develop their imagination, sensitivity and relational skills.

The facility also hosts workshops for adults , particularly focusing on physical theatre, improvisation and performance.

Art workshops during the holidays

Symmoria tou Iliou organizes holiday workshops combining different artistic disciplines.

The 2026 summer program, aimed at children aged 4 to 12 , included weekly juggling sessions, theatre, musical activities, visual arts and group games.

These workshops allow children to discover different artistic practices in a group setting, while developing their creativity, autonomy and ability to cooperate.

A child-centered educational approach

Symmoria tou Iliou's educational approach considers artistic activities as means of learning , self-discovery and personal development .

The workshops encourage curiosity, experimentation, and individual progress. Juggling, in particular, offers children the opportunity to learn to overcome difficulties, repeat movements, and appreciate their progress.

By combining circus arts, movement and creative expression, Symmoria tou Iliou provides a place for artistic discovery for young practitioners in Athens.

The structure is primarily aimed at families seeking a fun introduction to juggling techniques and at children wishing to develop their motor and creative skills in a friendly artistic environment.
