TGkids Kissimo is the children's and teenagers' circus of Turngemeinde Biberach 1847 eV , a large sports association based in Biberach an der Riß, in Baden-Württemberg.

Integrated into the TGkids program dedicated to children and young people, Kissimo offers a real regular practice of circus arts with several groups meeting every week.

The offer is organized around two complementary names: Kissimolino allows younger children to take their first steps into the world of the circus, while Kissimo continues this learning with children and teenagers from 6 years old.

The pedagogical principle is summarized by the formula "everyone knows how to do something" . The objective is to allow children with different abilities and experiences to find a discipline in which they enjoy experimenting and progressing.

Athletic performance is therefore not the focus of the instruction. Those in charge want to give each participant the necessary time to discover the activities and progress at their own pace.

The training allows for the gradual development of various physical qualities such as muscle tone , strength , mobility and coordination .

But Kissimo doesn't see circus arts solely as a physical activity. Creativity and personal expression play an equally important role in the sessions.

The children learn different techniques and are then encouraged to use them to develop their own ideas. In collaboration with the coaches, these ideas can gradually become actual acts for performances.

The major families of disciplines

Acrobatics is one of the major disciplines offered. It allows you to work on body control, cooperation and trust with partners.

Aerial disciplines are also part of the Kissimo program. They allow participants to discover working at height and explore another dimension of acrobatics.

Juggling is another major focus. Children can gradually learn to manipulate different props while developing coordination, rhythm, and concentration.

Unicycling is also offered in regular training sessions. This discipline combines balance, coordination, and perseverance, and can gradually be integrated into the acts presented by young artists.

The trampoline complements the activities offered and allows in particular to work on impulse, body orientation and different forms of aerial movement.

Balance , grouped under the term "Equilibristik," constitutes another important category. Participants experience different situations in which they must control their posture and develop their stability.

Clowning brings a different dimension to learning. It allows one to work on expression, imagination, stage presence, and the ability to create a character or situation.

This wide variety of disciplines allows children to discover several aspects of the circus before gradually developing their own preferences.

Technical learning and creative work

The Kissimo groups place equal importance on learning techniques and creative work. The leaders and young artists collaborate to develop new acts for each performance.

Group dynamics are another essential objective. Kissimo believes that a good circus atmosphere arises precisely from the encounter between different personalities and talents.

Therefore, many games and group activities are integrated into training sessions in order to strengthen group cohesion.

Participants also learn to listen to others, to accept their own limitations as well as those of their partners, and to use constructive criticism to improve an idea or creation.

This teaching method allows children to gradually develop autonomy and self-confidence while becoming aware of their responsibility towards the group.

Kissimolino and Kissimo: two complementary stages

Kissimolino is a particularly suitable first step for children discovering circus arts. Several groups are organized each week with shorter sessions than those of the Kissimo groups.

Kissimo then allows you to go further in the different disciplines. Several groups meet each week for training sessions lasting approximately one hour forty-five minutes to two hours.

The large number of available slots allows the structure to offer a genuine continuity of practice and not just a few occasional workshops.

Shows and highlights

The performances naturally represent an important culmination of the work done during training. The acts created collectively allow children and teenagers to present the skills and ideas developed throughout the year to an audience.

The organization notably hosts a large Kissimo Gala . A new edition has already been announced for April 2027 .

Activities during the holidays and discovery

In addition to weekly training sessions, Kissimo offers activities during school holidays. A holiday program is organized during the autumn break.

These periods allow participants to devote more time to circus arts and to have a more intensive experience than during weekly training sessions.

Kissimo also develops activities that allow other children to discover the circus on a one-off basis. For example, a birthday package allows children aged 6 and up to spend several hours in an environment designed around circus arts.

The training is then provided by qualified Kissimo coaches who allow participants to discover the equipment, try different techniques and learn some basic tricks.

A circus school integrated into the Turngemeinde Biberach

The integration of Kissimo into TGkids also makes it possible to create bridges with other physical and educational activities offered by the Turngemeinde Biberach.

The organization has particular experience in welcoming children with varying abilities. TGkids programs aim to create environments that allow children to participate according to their capabilities.

Kissimo thus constitutes a true school in Biberach for discovering and developing circus arts. Its organization into numerous weekly groups allows children to practice regularly and progress over several years.

By combining acrobatics , aerial disciplines , juggling , trampoline , unicycle , balance and clowning with a pedagogy without performance pressure, Kissimo uses circus arts as a space for movement, creativity and collective life.
