The Tempo Circus Theatre

Cirque Théâtre Tempo is a professional circus company and school located in Flers, Orne. Founded in 2015 by artists Chloé Rasero and Matey Tomov , the company develops a project combining the creation and performance of shows, circus arts instruction, school programs, workshops, and cultural activities. The Tempo Circus School has been based in Flers since September 2017 .

The founders

Chloé Rasero trained in slack wire at the Brussels Circus School before expanding her practice to include juggling, aerial arts, and clowning. She is now a slack wire artist and holds a state diploma as a circus instructor. Matey Tomov comes from a circus family: trained in acrobatics from a very young age, he specializes in rolla-bolla and the wheel of death and also holds a BIAC (Brevet d'Initiative Acrobat - International Circus Arts Certificate).

Education and the public

This professional experience directly informs the teaching offered in Flers. The school welcomes children from the age of 3 , teenagers, and adults, from beginners to advanced practitioners. It also states that it can accommodate people with disabilities .

Pedagogy

The teaching method is based on a multidisciplinary exploration of circus arts and a family-like , friendly , and supportive atmosphere. Students progress at their own pace while developing self-confidence , creativity , autonomy , and teamwork .

2026-2027 Season — Sports Offered

Disciplines and areas of specialization

The 2026-2027 season allows participants to practice the following disciplines:

  • Juggling
  • Balances on objects
  • Acrobatics
  • Body language
  • Aerial disciplines

Specific courses allow students to delve deeper into aerial silks, object balancing, and juggling. Chinese pole can also be explored in some workshops.

Confirmed Group

An Advanced group welcomes students with significant experience by invitation. Two hours per week are devoted to juggling, balances, aerial arts, acrobatics and expression, with a real creative dimension: participants work in groups while also developing a personal act.

Free access

The school also offers open access to the gym during certain time slots. Those who are sufficiently independent can then train alone or in small groups with a supervisor present, but without formal instruction.

Community involvement

This culture of autonomy is reflected in community involvement. Tempo, in particular, offers middle school students with at least two years of experience volunteer training focused on safety, warm-up, assisting with supervision, and setting up equipment.

  • Volunteer training for middle school students (safety, warm-up, assistance with supervision, equipment setup)
  • Participation in the setup of the big top
  • Reception of the public
  • Activities and entertainment during events
  • Participation in the Christmas Circus

Internships

Workshops are another important aspect of the activity. Tempo organizes multidisciplinary programs during school holidays as well as specialized workshops, particularly in aerial silks and stilt walking. Performances allow young participants to showcase the work they have done during the workshop.

"Circus and Nature" Stay (2026)

In 2026, Tempo developed a "Circus and Nature" holiday with L'Appel Buissonnier . This program combines artistic practice, group living and environmental discovery within the framework of a true holiday stay.

School interventions

Since 2017, the school has been developing a significant activity with educational institutions. The company can set up its big top in or near a school and develop a project in consultation with the teachers.

  • Setting up and taking down the big top
  • Meeting and mediation with the artists
  • Introduction to the disciplines
  • Discovering creation
  • Preparing for a show

This approach goes far beyond a simple introductory session and immerses students in the daily operations of a company.

Interventions with specialized organizations

Tempo also works with specialized and community-based organizations. Circus arts are thus used as an artistic, educational, and collective tool with very diverse audiences.

Professional dimension and creations

The professional dimension is a key feature of the school. Chloé Rasero and Matey Tomov continue their work as artists, and the company creates and presents its own shows. Among their creations are "Hôtel Tempo" and "D'Égal à égal," a show blending theatre and circus arts using the slack wire, rolla-bolla, juggling, and acrobatics.

Professional training

The Flers site is listed as a venue that can accommodate professional artists for open training. Depending on space availability, artists can practice ground acrobatics, aerial acrobatics, balancing, clowning, and juggling, with lanyards and mats provided.

Tempo has a mobile big top that allows it to develop shows, events, and educational projects in different areas. The organization can therefore operate both at its permanent school in Flers and while touring.

The Flers Christmas Circus

One of the most important events is the Flers Christmas Circus, organized with the City as part of the Emmitou'Flers festival. Under the big top, Tempo brings together professional French and international artists for a family-friendly program blending acrobatics, balancing acts, aerial disciplines, humor, and poetry.

The 2026 Christmas Circus is scheduled to take place from December 19th to 30th at the Flers bowling green. Around ten artists from seven different countries are expected to perform. This event highlights the complementary nature of local educational activities and the company's professional work.

2026-2027 Calendar

  • Classes resume: September 15, 2026
  • End-of-year show under the big top: May 29 and 30, 2027
  • Last classes of the season: June 15 and 16, 2027

Conclusion

Cirque Théâtre Tempo is thus a particularly versatile structure in the Normandy circus scene. Amateur school, professional company, training venue, organizer of workshops and shows and working with schools, Tempo creates numerous bridges between learning and live performance .

In Flers, children can discover circus arts from their earliest years, progress to more advanced groups, work on a specific discipline like aerial silks or balance, participate in a show under the big top, and meet professional artists directly.
